Pitt basketball just got a big boost for next season. On Tuesday, it was announced that 5-star recruit Xavier Johnson had committed to the Panthers.
Johnson is a 6’3” point guard from Las Vegas who is ranked as the No. 18 player in the country by 247Sports. He chose Pitt over offers from Arizona, UCLA, and USC.
With Johnson’s commitment, Pitt now has the No. 13 recruiting class in the country for 2019, according to 247Sports.

Relph’s commitment gives Pitt two ESPN100 recruits in its 2020 class. The other is No. 84 Makhi Mitchell, a 6-foot-8-inch power forward from Baltimore.
The two recruits give Pitt one of the best recruiting classes in school history and should help the Panthers compete for an NCAA tournament berth next season.

The 6-foot-7 Artis is a versatile player who can play both inside and out. He’s an excellent rebounder and shot blocker, and has the ability to score in a variety of ways. He’s also a good passer and ball handler for his size.
