Besides being a competitive and fun sport, basketball is also a great way to stay in shape and make friends If you’re thinking about joining a team or are already on one, here are some things you should know about the season.

The first thing you need to know is that there are three types of basketball street/park, played with fewer rules on outdoor courts; rec/league, played in gyms with recreational rules; and competitive/travel, which is similar to rec but has more intense play and often requires try-outs. If you’re not sure which type of basketball is right for you, ask your coach or captain.

Pittsford Mendon basketball teams typically have 10-12 players on the roster and practice two to three times per week. Practices usually last around two hours. During the season, teams play between eight and 12 games, depending on their level of competition. Some tournaments may be held on weekends.

If you’re interested in joining a team, there are a few things you need to do: first, find a team that’s right for your skill level and interests; second, make sure you have the necessary gear; third, attend try-outs (if required); and fourth, sign up for practices and games.

In addition to playing basketball many teams also participate in cheerleading and dances. These activities help build team spirit and sportsmanship. If you’re interested in cheerleading or dancing, talk to your coach or captain about joining the squad.
