With the Rose Hulman baseball season right around the corner, I wanted to put together a quick must-have roster for all you die-hard baseball fans out there. From the reliable veteran to the up-and-coming freshman, this list has got you covered. So without further ado, here is the Rose Hulman Baseball roster for the 2019 season:
Catchers:
Brett Cumberland: The senior captain and returning starter behind the plate, Cumberland is one of the most experienced and battle-tested players on the team. A natural leader, he will be counted on to guide a young pitching staff through a challenging schedule.
Cole Michaud: A redshirt sophomore who is coming off of a strong 2018 campaign, Michaud provides a nice complement to Cumberland with his left-handed bat and solid defense. Look for him to get plenty of playing time this season as well.
Infielders:
Daniel Rezac: The hulking first baseman will provide some much-needed power in the middle of the lineup this season. At 6’5” and 240 pounds, Rezac is not someone opposing pitchers will want to see come to the plate with men on base.
Anthony DiRusso: A slick-fielding shortstop who bats leadoff, DiRusso will set the tone for the offense with his stolen base threat and gap power. He figures to be one of the top hitters in the conference this season.
Garrett KocANSKI: An experienced third baseman, Kocanski will provide leadership and stability in the field for a relatively young team. He also has some pop in his bat, which should help him drive in some runs as well. Outfielders: Andrew Murray: The speedy center fielder covers a ton of ground in the outfield and provides a spark on offense with his ability to get on base and steal bases. He figures to be one of the team’s top run scorers this season. Pitching Staff: David Bednarz Jr.: The ace of the staff, Bednarz is a hard-throwing right-hander who has electric stuff. He’ll be counted on to anchor a pitching staff that lacks experience. Mikey Lovato: The lone lefty in Rose Hulman’s rotation, Lovato comes into his own as he enters his junior year as one of Bednarz’ go-to guys out of bullpen during crunch time situations

They also need quick reflexes as they often times have stop batted balls from going into center field or left fielders without being able to see where they are going beforehand . Outfielders: Outfielders are responsible for catching balls hit by the batter and throwing them back into infield . They also need use speed track down fly balls that are hit over their heads . A outfielder ‘s arm strength does not need be as strong as an infielder because outfield distances are much greater .
