Introduction
The Suffern High School Hockey Team has been on the rise in recent years Under the leadership of Head Coach Mike D’Angelo, the team has made great strides in terms of both on-ice success and player development
In just four years, Coach D’Angelo has led the team to two State Tournament appearances and one conference championship During that time, Suffern has also produced a Number of players who have gone on to play at the collegiate level. All of this is a far cry from where the program was just a few years ago.
When Coach D’ Angelo took over the program, it was in disarray. The team had consistently been one of the worst in the league and there was very little hope for improvement. But under Coach D’Angelo’s guidance, Suffern has undergone a complete turnaround.
The biggest reason for the team’s success has been its focus on player development Coach D’Angelo and his staff have done an excellent job of identifying and developing talent within the program. This has led to an increase in both on-ice success and college placement for Suffern players.
In addition to its focus on player development Suffern has also made significant strides in terms of its on-ice product. This was evidenced by Suffern’s run to the State Tournament last year, where it narrowly lost to eventual champion Eden Prairie in double overtime.
