The season for the SUNY Oswego Men’s Hockey Team is fast approaching. In order to gear up for the season, we’ve put together a guide that includes the schedule for the season as well as some insights into the team.

This season, the team will be looking to build on their success from last year when they made it to the semifinals of the SUNYAC tournament. The team is young, but they have a lot of talent and they are looking to make a run at the SUNYAC championship this year.

The Team

This season, the team will have its first game on October 5th against Clarkson University The game will take place at Clarkson University’s Cheel Arena in Potsdam, New York.

The Fans

The fans of the Suny Oswego Mens Hockey Team are some of the most dedicated and passionate in college hockey They love their team and follow them religiously, both home and away. They are always looking for ways to support their team and make noise to help them win.

The Arena

The home arena for the Lakers is the 3,000-seat Campus Center Ice Arena. The ice surface dimensions are 200′ by 85′. The arena opened in Fall 2001 and is located in the heart of the SUNY Oswego campus.

The History

The History of Suny Oswego Mens Hockey can be found all the way back to 1887. That is when the first ice hockey game was played. Oswego faced off against Liverpool in what would become an annual match. Unfortunately, there is no record of who won that first game. What we do know is that Oswego went on to win the next 12 games in a row. In 1899, Liverpool recaptured the title and has held it ever since.

The Rivalries

The Oswego Lakers men’s Hockey team has a long tradition of competition against some of the best teams in the country. Here are some of the team’s biggest rivals:

Clarkson University The two schools are just 20 miles apart and have been rivals since the 1950s. The teams have met nearly 200 times, with Clarkson holding a slim lead in the series.

Cornell University The Lakers and the Big Red have been competing since 1948 and have met nearly 190 times. Cornell holds a significant lead in the series, but the games are always close.

– St. Lawrence University Another close geographic rival, the Lakers and the Saints have been playing each other since 1949. The series is even at nearly 190 games apiece.

The Championships

The championships are set to begin on Friday, March 8th at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The first game will be between Boston University and Northeastern University. The second game will be between the University of Maine and the University of New Hampshire. The third game will be between Merrimack College and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. The fourth game will be between the University of Connecticut and Boston College

The Future

The schedule for the season is set and the team is eager to get started. The first game is againstRochester Institute of Technology on October 6th at home. The ice will be cold, but the team will be hot, looking to prove themselves early in the season. Other key games include a home matchup against Colgate on December 1st and away games at Cornell and Clarkson. As always, the goal is to make it to the NCAA tournament and bring home a championship.
