Boston College has won the most Beanpots, with 27 total championships. Boston University is second with 21 championships, followed by Northeastern with 13 championships. Harvard has won 11 Beanpots.
The Teams
In college hockey there are three teams in Boston that compete for the coveted “Beanpot” trophy every year. These teams are: Boston College Boston University and Northeastern University.
The Boston College Eagles are the most successful team in Beanpot history, with a record of 19 wins and 5 losses. They have won the tournament more times than any other team, and their most recent win was in 2020.
The Boston University Terriers have a record of 13 wins and 11 losses in Beanpot games. Their most recent win was in 2019.
The Northeastern University Huskies have a record of 8 wins and 16 losses in Beanpot games. Their most recent win was in 2018.

BC finally broke through and won their first Beanpot championship in 1963.
Since then, the two teams have combined to win an incredible 27 of the 71 Beanpot tournaments. Harvard has won 11 times and Northeastern has captured seven titles. The four teams have combined to make an astounding 38 appearances in the Championship game
This year’s tournament will feature some of the best collegiate Hockey Players in the country. BC is led by sophomore forward Sam Tageson and junior defenseman Connor Moore. Tageson is second on the team in scoring with 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) while Moore anchors a defense that has allowed a mere 1.93 goals per game good for second in the nation.
BU is spearheaded by junior defenseman Dante Fabbro and freshman forward Joel Farabee. Fabbro leads all BU blueliners with 24 points (4 goals, 20 assists) and Farabee has been nothing short of spectacular, totaling 32 points (15 goals, 17 assists) thus far this season.
Harvard will look to senior forward Ryan Donato and junior goaltender Michael Lackey to lead them to victory. Donato is one of the most talented scorers in college hockey tallying 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) so far this year while Lackey has been outstanding between the pipes for Harvard, compiling a .931 save percentage and 2.11 goals against average en route to a 13-4-3 record this season.
Northeastern will look to a familiar face to lead them to their first Beanpot championship since 2015 – junior goaltender Cayden Primeau. The son of former NHLer Keith Primeau has been stellar this season for Northeastern, boasting a .936 save percentage and 1.83 goals against average while going 16-5-1 on the year so far..
