Texas A&M Kingsville’s Baseball Program is on the rise under Head Coach Bryan Cunningham.

In his three seasons at the helm, Cunningham has led the Javelinas to a pair of 30-win seasons and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

This season, Texas A&M Kingsville is off to a hot start, winning eight of its first nine games. The Javelinas are led by senior outfielder R.J. Williams, who is hitting .500 with four home runs and 15 RBIs.

The coaches

The coaching staff of eight is led by Head Coach Mark Johnson and Assistant coaches Mikey Schultz, Bryce Denton and Luke Whelan. Of the eight coaches, six of them played Division I Baseball Johnson lead the team to a 37-19 record in his first season as Head coach in 2016. In 2017, the program took another step forward as they finished 42-16 and won their first ever conference tournament championship. The team made it to the NCAA Division II College World Series for the first time in school history.

The facilities

Recently, the Texas A&M Kingsville baseball team has seen a lot of success. In the past few years, the team has seen an increase in wins and Baseball Rankings and has made it to NCAA Division II World Series A big reason for this success is the new on-campus baseball facility that was built in 2016. The Baseball Performance Center gives the team a place to train and practice that is tailored specifically to their needs. It includes batting cages, a pitching lab, locker rooms offices, and meeting spaces.

The Javelinas will play their home games at Nolan Ryan Field, located on the campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The field is named after Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan who played his college baseball at Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Javelinas will compete in the Southland Conference and will be playing their first conference game on February 28th against Sam Houston State
