He was named to the All-Star team seven times, and won two Silver Slugger Awards. In 1981, he helped lead the Expos to their only postseason appearance in franchise history.
Raines left the Expos as a free agent following the 2001 season, and went on to play for the Baltimore Orioles Florida Marlins, New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics before retiring in 2002. He currently serves as a special assistant to the General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays
Raines was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017. His son Tim Jr. is currently a professional baseball player for the Toronto Blue Jays
