Introduction

The University of Illinois at Chicago has a long and proud tradition of excellence in baseball, dating back to the early days of the program in the late 1800s. Today, the Flames are a Division I program competing in the Horizon League and they have captured conference titles in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2011 and 2012. The team plays its home games at Les Miller Field on campus, and has produced numerous Major League Baseball players over the years.

The Early Years

UIC Baseball has a long and rich history in the city of Chicago. The program was founded in 1892, making it one of the oldest Collegiate Baseball programs in the country. The team has seen a great deal of success over the years, winning several conference championships and making multiple appearances in the NCAA tournament

The Early Years
The UIC baseball program got its start in 1892, when the university fielded its first team. The team was coached by Dr. James Ryan, who would go on to serve as the university’s president from 1895 to 1902. The team’s first game was a victory over Northwestern University and they would go on to finish the season with a record of 5-5.

Over the next few years, the team continued to build its program and saw success on the field. In 1895, UIC won its first conference championship The team also made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 1896, but lost in the first round.

In 1897, UIC experienced its first taste of national success when it won the National Intercollegiate Baseball Tournament This tournament was effectively a precursor to today’s College World Series and it was a huge accomplishment for UIC to come out on top.

The Golden Age

The Golden Age is often considered to be the era between 1920 and 1960. During this time, the Chicago White Sox were one of the most successful teams in baseball, winning six American League pennants and three World Series titles. The Golden Age also saw the rise of legendary players such as Luke Appling, Minnie Miñoso, Nellie Fox and Early Wynn.

The Modern Era

The UIC Baseball Team has a long and storied history, dating back to the late 1800s. However, the team has seen its greatest success in recent years thanks in part to the leadership of Head Coach Mike Dee.

Under Coach Dee, the UIC baseball team has won three conference championships and made two trips to the NCAA tournament The team has consistently been ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation, and in 2019, they reached as high as No. 17 in the polls.

The UIC Baseball Record

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Flames baseball team is a Division I college baseball program in the NCAA, representing the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Flames began play in 1969 and currently compete in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). They are coached by Mike Dee and play their home games at Curtis Granderson Stadium, located on campus.

The Flames have appeared in three NCAA Division I Baseball Championships Their highest finish came in 1981, when they advanced to the College World Series
