In baseball, a player’s batting average (BA) is a measure of how often the player gets a hit. The higher the batting average the more hits a player gets per at-bat. A player’s on-base percentage (OBP) is a measure of how often the player reaches base. The higher the on-base percentage the more times aplayer gets on base per at-bat.

In order to find out who’s on top, we looked at the VHSL Baseball Scores for six schools: George Mason High School Langley high school Loudoun Valley high school Madison County High School Norfolk Academy and Trinity Episcopal School. We then calculated each team’s batting average and on-base percentage

George Mason high school has the highest batting average with a BA of 0.385. Langley high school has the second highest batting average with a BA of 0.382. Loudoun Valley High School has the third highest batting average in our sample, with a BA of 0.367.

Madison County high school has the highest On-base percentage (OBP), with an OBP of 0.526. George Mason high school has the second highest OBP in our sample, with an OBP of 0.488. Norfolk Academy has the third highest OBP in our sample group, with an OBP of 0.481.

This week, some of the top VHSL baseball scores came from across the state. In the West, Loudoun Valley defeated county rival Loudoun County 2-0. In the Central region Amelia continued its undefeated season with a 12-3 win over Nottoway. Meanwhile, in the East, Kellam edged outDeep Creek 3-2 in a close game

It’s that time of year again, when the temperatures start to rise and the smell of hot dogs and freshly-cut grass fills the air. That’s right, it’s baseball season!

And what better way to get into the spirit of the game than by looking at some of the top VHSL baseball scores from around the state?

In May, there were some great games, with plenty of home runs dramatic comebacks, and extra-innings thrillers. Here are just a few of the best:

On May 3, Salem defeated Pulaski County 4-3 in 12 innings. It was a closely contested game all the way, with neither team leading by more than one run at any point. In the bottom of the 12th inning, Salem’s Colton Michael hit a walk-off home run to give his team the victory.

On May 10, Herndon high school defeated Langley 9-8 in another extra-inning thriller. This time it was Herndon who came from behind, scoring two runs in the top of the 8th inning to take the lead. Langley rallied in the bottom half of the inning, but couldn’t quite complete the comeback, giving Herndon the win.

Some of the top VHSL Baseball Scores of the year have been amassed by a few schools. George Mason High School for example, has scored 309 runs this season. Other schools in the top ten for VHSL baseball scores include Loudoun Valley High School (299), Rustburg high school (292), Chancellor High School (287), Maury High School (284), and James River High School (274).

In order to find out who the top VHSL baseball scorers are, we’ve gone through and compiled a list of the top scorers by region. Below, you’ll find a list of the top 10 scorers in each region, as well as their total scores for the season.

The Top VHSL baseball scores by School

In order to find the top VHSL baseball scores by school, we first must identify what variables will determine a “top” score. In this case, we will use the following criteria: fewest runs allowed, highest batting average and most home runs Based on these criteria, the following schools have the top scores in VHSL baseball.

Deep Creek High School Deep Creek has allowed the fewest runs of any team in VHSL baseball, with a total of only 24 runs allowed in their 12 games played Additionally, they boast a batting average of .338 and have hit 12 home runs

Floyd County High School Floyd County has also been very stingy when it comes to runs allowed, giving up only 26 total runs in their 12 Games Played They have slightly less impressive batting statistics than Deep Creek, with a Batting Average of .306, but they make up for it with 14 Home Runs

These are the two schools that currently sit atop the leaderboard in VHSL baseball scores While both teams have been very successful so far this season, it remains to be seen if they can keep up their winning ways throughout the rest of the season and into the playoffs.
