Wallace State Baseball A Tradition of Excellence

Wallace State Community College’s baseball program has a long tradition of success. The school has won nine Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) championships, four NJCAA Division I World Series titles and produced Major League Baseball players.

Wallace State’s first ACCC championship came in 1985 under Head Coach Mike Daughtry. The team went on to win the NJCAA Division I World Series becoming the first Alabama team to win a junior college baseball National Championship Wallace State has since won ACCC championships in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1997 and 1999. The team has also won NJCAA Division I World Series titles in 1993, 1997 and 1999.

During its history, Wallace State has produced more than 30 Major League Baseball players, including former All-Stars Jeff Reardon and Marvin Freeman.

Wallace State Community College’s baseball program has built a reputation for success on the field and in the classroom. The program has produced 27 All-Americans, 57 NJCAA Academic All-Americans and has won 12 conference championships since its inception in 1983.

Under the guidance of former head coach Randy Fowler, the Wallace State Baseball program has become one of the most successful junior college programs in the country. The team has made 21 NJCAA World Series appearances, winning the championship in 1998 and 2000. In addition to their on-field success, the Wallace State baseball team has also excelled in the classroom. The team has been named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year 19 times and had aperfect 4.0 grade point average in 2014-15.

Head coach Randy Inman has over 20 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level. He has led Wallace State to four conference championships and three trips to the NJCAA World Series assistant coaches Brad Gach Koch, Tanner Myatt, and Chase Christiansen round out the staff. Koch, Myatt, and Christiansen all played baseball at Wallace State and have a wealth of knowledge about the game.

The Wallace State Baseball facilities are second to none in the state of Alabama. The newly renovated field house provides everything a student-athlete needs to succeed on and off the field. The weight room, training room, locker room and player’s lounge are all first-class facilities that provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed.

Our outdoor facility is one of the best in the conference with a brand new artificial Turf Field and a state-of-the-art light system. The grandstands can accommodate over 1,000 fans and there is a spacious press box for media and scouting purposes.
