Wayne County’s baseball program has seen a resurgence in recent years thanks in part to the efforts of Head Coach Larry Dise.

Since taking over the program in 2014, Coach Dise has led the team to a record of 43-30. That includes a 20-9 mark in 2016, when the team won its first conference championship since 2006.

Under Coach Dise’s leadership, Wayne County has become one of the top baseball programs in the state of Kentucky. The team is consistently ranked in the top 25 in the state, and it has received national attention for its success on the field.

In 2017, Wayne County was featured in an article on ESPN.com about its turnaround under Coach Dise. The article praised Coach Dise for his work in developing players and building a winning culture at Wayne County.

The future looks bright for Wayne County Baseball and it all started with the hiring of Larry Dise as head coach Thanks to his hard work and dedication, Wayne County is once again a force to be reckoned with on the diamond.

The County’s top baseball Players

Wayne County hasn’t had the best baseball teams in recent years but that may be changing. Some of the county’s Top Players are starting to get noticed by college and professional scouts.

Mitch Bryan is a senior at Wayne High School He’s been playing baseball since he was a kid and has always dreamed of playing professionally. This year, he’s been scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees

Sophia Derkac is a junior at Wayne Memorial High School She started playing baseball when she was just eight years old. Sophia has already been scouted by several colleges, including Michigan State University and the University of Michigan

These are just two of the many talented young players in Wayne County. With any luck, we’ll be seeing more of them in the Major Leagues in the years to come!

The County’s Baseball History

As the birthplace of baseball greats Hank Aaron Ty Cobb, and Shoeless Joe Jackson, Wayne County has a long and storied history with America’s pastime.

The county’s first Baseball Team was the Richmond Blues, which was founded in 1884. The Blues were a member of the Southern League from 1885 to 1899. From 1904 to 1926, they were a founding member of the South Atlantic League The team won the League Championship in 1924.

In 1938, the county got its first taste of minor League Baseball when the Augusta Tigers, an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers moved to Waynesboro. The team played in the Piedmont League from 1938 to 1942 and won the League Championship in 1940.

After a three-year absence, minor league baseball returned to Wayne County in 1946 when the Augusta Tourists, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates began play in the South Atlantic League. The team played in Augusta until 1963 when they moved to Birmingham, Alabama.

In 1964, Wayne County again had its own Minor League Baseball team when the Rome Braves joined the South Atlantic League. The team played in Rome until 1987 when they relocated to Sumter, South Carolina

In 1988, Wayne County welcomed its current minor league baseball team: the Augusta Greenjackets The GreenJackets are an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants and play in the South Atlantic League. They have won one league championship, which came in 2005.

The County’s Baseball Schedules

Since 2006, Wayne County Baseball has been on the rise – in more ways than one.

The county’s collegiate and youth teams have seen marked improvement in their standings, while at the same time, more and more residents are taking up the sport.

In 2006, the Wayne County Cougars won just four games. But by 2010, they had improved to a .500 team, and in 2011 they made it to the State Tournament for the first time in school history.

Similarly, the Wayne County Knights youth team has gone from worst to first in recent years. In 2010, the Knights finished last in their division with a 4-12 record. But by 2012, they had won their division with a 14-2 record.

All of this success is translating into more interest in baseball among Wayne County residents. More and more people are signing up to play organized baseball, whether it be on a youth team, an adult league, or even just pick-up games at the local park.

The County’s Baseball Tournament

The Wayne County Baseball Tournament is a big deal. The teams that make it to the tournament are some of the best in the state, and the competition is fierce. This year, there are four teams that have a chance to win it all: the defending champions, the top-seeded team, the dark horse, and the underdog.

The defending champions are the Cloud County Clippers. They have been to the tournament three times in the last four years, and they have won it twice. The Clippers are led by their star pitcher, Michael Jordan Jordan is one of the best pitchers in the state, and he has a 0.96 ERA this season. The Clippers also have a strong lineup, which includes sluggers like Cody Bellinger and Mike Trout The Cloud County Clippers are the favorites to win the Wayne County Baseball Tournament

The top-seeded team is the Wayne high school Spartans. The Spartans have only been to one Wayne County Baseball Tournament but they are a talented team. The Spartans are led by their ace pitcher, Cole Hamels. Hamels has a 1.36 ERA this season, and he is one of the best pitchers in Wayne County. The Spartans also have a strong lineup that includes hitters like Bryce Harper and Manny Machado The Wayne high school Spartans are one of the favorites to win the Wayne County Baseball Tournament

The dark horse in this year’s tournament is the Lincoln high school Railsplitters. The Railsplitters have only been to one Wayne County Baseball Tournament but they are a talented team. The Railsplitters are led by their ace pitcher, Gerrit Cole. Cole has a 1.47 ERA this season, and he is one of Lincoln’s best pitchers. Lincoln also has a strong lineup that includes hitters like Jesse Winker and Alex Bregman Lincoln high school is one of sleeper teams in this year’s Wayne County Baseball Tournament

The underdog in this year’s tournament is Honesdale high school Hornets’. Honesdale has never been to a Wayne County Baseball Tournament before, but they are a talented team who could make some noise in this year’s tournament
