The team’s journey to the state championships began in 2016, when they won the conference tournament This was followed by a successful regular season in which they posted a 21-4 record. In the State Tournament they made it all the way to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Myers Park

The following year, the team had even more success. They won the conference tournament again and finished the regular season with a 25-1 record. In the state tournament they made it to the finals but lost to Mooresville in a close game

Despite coming up just short of their ultimate goal, West Forsyth Basketball has established themselves as one of the top teams in North Carolina With their combination of talent and dedication, they are sure to continue their success in years to come.

The Coaching Staff

The West Forsyth Basketball Coaching Staff is made up of Head Coach Jerry Shively and assistants Ronnie Baker and Courtney Carr. Coach Shively is entering his sixth year at the helm of the program, and his teams have seen a marked improvement over that time. In his first year, the team went 6-20, but by his fourth year they had improved to 18-8 and made it to the state playoffs for the first time in school history.

Coach Shively attributes much of the team’s success to the dedication of his assistant coaches Coach Baker has been with the program for four years and is responsible for player development He works closely with the players on their individual skills, and he also serves as the team’s Strength and Conditioning Coach Coach Carr is in her second year with the program, and she oversees player recruitment. She works tirelessly to find talented players who fit well into the culture of the program.
