What Channel Are The Baseball Playoffs On?

MLB Playoffs

The MLB playoffs are upon us and fans are wondering what channel they can catch all the action on. The good news is that the playoffs will be broadcast on a variety of channels, so there will be plenty of ways to catch all the games. Here is a complete guide to all the channels that will be broadcasting the MLB playoffs.

American League

The American League of Major League Baseball (MLB) is one of two leagues that make up the sport. The other is the National League. Together, they are considered the premier professional baseball organizations in the United States and Canada.

The American League consists of 15 teams, organized into three divisions: the East, West, and Central. The winner of each division (determined by regular-season record) and two wild card teams (the two clubs with the next-best records overall) advance to the playoffs, which culminate in the AL Championship Series. The winner of that series advances to the World Series to take on the champion of the NL.

In recent years, the AL has been home to some of baseball’s most dominant teams, including the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Houston Astros.

National League

The National League Championship Series (NLCS) is a best-of-seven playoff and one of two League Championship Series in Major League Baseball (MLB), the other being the American League Championship Series (ALCS). It is played by the winners of the two National League (NL) Division Series. The winner of the NLCS wins the NL pennant and advances to play the winner of the ALCS in Major League Baseball’s World Series.

TV Schedule

The MLB Wild Card Game will be played on October 2nd at 8pm EST on ESPN. The winner of that game will advance to play the AL East winner in the ALDS. The ALDS will be a best of five series and will be played from October 4-8. The NLDS will be played from October 4-8 as well.

American League

The American League of Professional Baseball Clubs, or simply the American League (AL), is one of two leagues that make up Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada. It developed from the Western League, a minor league based in the Great Lakes states, which eventually aspired to major league status. It is sometimes called the Junior Circuit because it claimed Major League status for the 1901 season, 25 years after the formation of the National League.

The 2018 American League playoffs began on October 3. The AL playoffs are a best-of-five series. The AL Division Series are being played between the following teams:

(1) Boston Red Sox vs. (4) New York Yankees
(2) Houston Astros vs. (3) Cleveland Indians

National League

The National League Championship Series (NLCS) is a best-of-seven playoff and one of two League Championship Series in Major League Baseball (MLB), the other being the American League Championship Series (ALCS). Both series determine the pennant winner of each league. The NLCS began in 1969, when both the National League and American League had two divisions each.

The current NLCS format features two teams from each division. The team with the better record during the regular season hosts the first, second and fifth games, and the other team hosts the third, fourth and (if necessary) sixth and seventh games.

Television coverage of the NLCS changed several times throughout its history, but since 1991, Fox has served as the exclusive broadcaster of all NLCS games.
