Who’s in and who’s out?

Currently, the New England Patriots are the favorites to win the Super Bowl, followed by the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Rams. In the AFC, the Patriots, Chiefs, and Steelers are all looking good, while the Texans, Ravens, and Colts are on the outside looking in. Who will make the playoffs? Who will be left out? Let’s take a look.
The AFC
In the AFC, the Pittsburgh Steelers have clinched the North division and a playoff berth. The Jacksonville Jaguars have clinched the South division and a playoff berth. The New England Patriots have clinched the East division and a playoff berth. The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched the West division and a playoff berth. The Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills are fighting for the two Wild Card spots.
The NFC
The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. This conference and its counterpart, the American Football Conference (AFC), currently contain 16 teams each, making up a total of 32 teams in the NFL.
As of right now, these are the teams that have clinched a spot in the playoffs:
-The Green Bay Packers have clinched the NFC North division championship and a first-round bye.
-The New Orleans Saints have clinched the NFC South division championship.
-The Seattle Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth.
-The Dallas Cowboys have clinched a playoff berth.
These are the teams that are still in contention for a spot in the playoffs:
-The Los Angeles Rams have a chance to clinch the NFC West division championship and a first-round bye with a win or tie against the Arizona Cardinals, or a Seattle Seahawks loss or tie against the San Francisco 49ers.
-The Minnesota Vikings can clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Detroit Lions, or losses or ties by both the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles.
The wild card race
There are only a few weeks left in the NFL season and the playoff race is heating up. The race for the wild card spot is especially tight right now. Let’s take a look at the NFL playoff picture and see what the chances are for each team.
The AFC
The AFC is wide open this season, with multiple teams still in the hunt for a playoff berth. The New England Patriots sit at the top of the conference with a 9-3 record, but they are closely followed by the Baltimore Ravens (8-4), Houston Texans (8-4), and Kansas City Chiefs (8-4). All four of these teams are in position to make a run at the conference title.
In the hunt for a wild card spot are the Indianapolis Colts (7-5), Buffalo Bills (7-5), Oakland Raiders (6-6), and Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6). All four of these teams have a realistic shot at making the playoffs, but it will be a tight race down the stretch.
The bottom half of the conference is made up of the Miami Dolphins (5-7), Denver Broncos (5-7), Cincinnati Bengals (5-7), and Los Angeles Chargers (4-8). These teams are still mathematically alive in the playoff race, but their chances are slim.
The NFC
The NFC playoff race is wide open heading into the final week of the regular season. There are still seven teams vying for the four spots, and any one of them could end up in the playoffs.
The NFC East is still up for grabs, with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles both sitting at 9-6. The winner of their Week 17 matchup will claim the division title, while the loser will likely be out of the playoffs entirely. The Cowboys currently hold the tiebreaker over the Eagles, so they would win the division if both teams finish with the same record.
The Green Bay Packers are in control of their own destiny, as they sit atop the NFC North at 10-5. They can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Detroit Lions in Week 17, or if the Seattle Seahawks lose to either the Arizona Cardinals or San Francisco 49ers.
The Seahawks are currently in possession of the first wild card spot, but they could still end up anywhere from first to out of the playoffs. They need a win in Week 17 to clinch a playoff berth, but they could also lose and still get in if both Green Bay and Dallas lose their games.
The Minnesota Vikings are 9-6 and currently hold the second wild card spot. They can clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Bears in Week 17, or if Seattle loses and Green Bay or Dallas doesn’t win their game. If all three teams lose, then it would come down to tiebreakers to decide who gets in.
The Packers and Seahawks are both heavy favorites in their Week 17 matchups, so it’s likely that those two teams will claim two of the three spots that are still up for grabs. That leaves one spot for either Dallas, Philadelphia, Minnesota or Arizona (who are all 8-7). It’s anyone’s guess as to who will come out on top in this race.
The divisional race
With only a few weeks left in the NFL season, the playoff picture is starting to take shape. The AFC looks to be a two-team race between the Patriots and Steelers, while the NFC has a few more teams still in contention. In the NFC, the Eagles and Vikings are in good position to make the playoffs, but the Rams and Saints are still in the hunt. Let’s take a look at the divisional races.
The AFC
The AFC playoff race is going to come down to the wire, with plenty of teams still in contention for a spot in the playoffs. The New England Patriots are comfortably perched atop the standings, but there are a number of teams gunning for the other two bye weeks. The Pittsburgh Steelers currently hold the second spot, but they are closely followed by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC Wild Card race, things are just as tight. The Baltimore Ravens currently sit in the first spot, but they are closely followed by the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and Buffalo Bills. Any of these teams could still make a run at a playoff berth, so it should be an exciting finish to the season.
The NFC
The NFL playoff picture is looking pretty good for the New Orleans Saints right now. They’re currently in first place in the NFC South with an 8-2 record, and they have a two-game lead over the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Saints have a favorable remaining schedule, as they still have to play the Panthers and the Bucs, but they also have games against the struggling Atlanta Falcons and the lowly San Francisco 49ers. If they can win those four games, they should be in good shape to make the playoffs.
The NFC North is still up for grabs, as the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings are both 7-3. The Packers have a one-game lead over the Vikings, but they still have to play each other twice, so it’s going to be a tight race to the finish.
The Los Angeles Rams are currently in first place in the NFC West with an 8-3 record, but they have a tough remaining schedule that includes games against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Dallas Cowboys. They’ll need to win at least two of those three games to clinch a playoff spot.
The Chicago Bears are currently in second place in the NFC North with a 6-5 record, but they’re only one game behind the Packers and Vikings. They still have to play both of those teams, so they could easily make a push for a playoff spot if they can win out.
The conference race
There are just four weeks left in the NFL season, and while some playoff spots have been clinched, there is still a lot to be decided. The race for the conference title is still very much up in the air, and there are a number of teams fighting for position. Let’s take a look at the NFL playoff picture right now.
The AFC
The AFC playoff race is heating up, with several teams in the mix for a spot in the postseason. The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are currently the frontrunners for the top two seeds in the conference, but the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tennessee Titans are all within striking distance.
The AFC West is shaping up to be a close three-team race between the Chiefs, Jaguars, and Los Angeles Chargers. The division-leading Chiefs have a one-game lead over the Jaguars, but the Chargers are only a half-game behind Jacksonville.
In the AFC East, the Patriots are comfortably in first place with a two-game lead over the Miami Dolphins. The Buffalo Bills are also still in contention for a wild card spot, although they’ll need some help to make it into the playoffs.
The Pittsburgh Steelers currently hold the top seed in the AFC thanks to their division-leading 8-2 record. The Steelers have a one-game lead over both the Jaguars and Titans in the AFC South, although both of those teams are still very much alive in the division race.
The final spot in the AFC playoff picture is currently occupied by the wild card Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have a 6-4 record and are 1.5 games ahead of both the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos for that final spot.
The NFC
The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world.
The NFC consists of 16 teams, 13 located in the United States and 3 located in Canada. These 16 teams are divided into four divisions: East, West, North, and South. Each division has four teams.
The NFC Playoffs are made up of the six teams with the best record in the conference. The four division winners are seeded 1-4 based on their record, with the other two teams being wild card seeds 5 and 6.
In the NFC playoffs, the 1 seed plays the 6 seed, the 2 seed plays the 5 seed, and so on. The highest seed remaining in each round is considered to be the home team.
The Super Bowl race
The NFL playoffs are coming up and there are a few teams that look like they have a chance to make it to the Super Bowl. The New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Philadelphia Eagles all look like they have a chance to make a run at the Super Bowl.
The AFC
If the season ended today, the New England Patriots would be the No. 1 seed in the AFC and would have home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. The Pats are followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.
The AFC playoff race is wide open right now, with 14 teams still in contention for a spot in the postseason. The top six seeds are all but set, but there will be a lot of drama over who earns the final two spots in the conference playoffs.
The NFC
The NFC playoff picture is starting to take shape, with the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams looking like the class of the conference. The Saints (9-1) have a two-game lead over the Rams (7-3) in the race for the top seed in the NFC, but Los Angeles holds a slim lead over the Chicago Bears (7-3) for the second seed.
The Dallas Cowboys (6-5) are clinging to a two-game lead over the Philadelphia Eagles (4-6) and Washington Redskins (6-4) in the NFC East, but all three teams are still very much alive in the hunt for a division title and a spot in the playoffs. The Seattle Seahawks (6-5) are also hanging around in the wild card race, but they’ll need to start stringing together some wins if they want to stay in contention.
