What happened to the Boogeyman in WWE? Many fans are wondering what happened to this once-feared Superstar.
Boogeyman’s WWE Debut
The Boogeyman made his debut in the WWE in 2005, and he quickly became a fan favorite. He was known for his unique look and his spooky entrance. However, the Boogeyman was released from the WWE in 2008 and has not been seen since.
His first WWE appearance
The Boogeyman made his first WWE appearance on the SmackDown debut episode on August 26, 2002, in a segment with The Undertaker. He was shown atop a long domed structure, appearing to be in a trance-like state while sitting in a meditative position. The camera panned down to show that he was sitting on top of dozens of squirming worms. The following week, Boogeyman emerged from under the ring during a match between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero Jr., frightening both men. In the ensuing weeks, he would pop out from under the ring during matches or promos, sometimes attacking wrestlers such as Booker T, Rey Mysterio, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Joey Mercury, and Frankie Kazarian.
His first WWE match
Boogeyman made his first WWE appearance on the October 31, 2005 episode of SmackDown!, attacking The Undertaker. He defeated jobber Dillon McHale in his debut match on the November 4 episode of SmackDown!. When Paul Bearer returned to The Undertaker’s side on the November 11 episode of SmackDown!, Boogeyman was revealed as Bearer’s new pupil. The following week, he defeated Rene Dupree and valuable ringside lesson from Bearer. On the December 2 episode of SmackDown!, Boogeyman and Bearer disturbed a brawl between The Undertaker and Kurt Angle, with Angle then assaulting both men

His time on WWE SmackDown

Boogeyman was supposed to be a human embodiment of these fears, and he did a pretty good job of it. He would come out to the ring with live worms coming out of his mouth, and would eat them on camera. He would also smear them all over his opponents before winning his matches. It was all very gruesome, and it actually worked quite well.
His time on WWE RAW
Boogeyman was drafted to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2005 WWE Draft Lottery. He made his debut on the June 30 episode of SmackDown, defeating jobber Michael Marcucci. He gained a victory over Road Warrior Animal at The Great American Bash. Boogeyman then disappeared from WWE TV for a short period of time, returning to defeat jobber Chasyn Rance on the October 27 episode of SmackDown. In November, he took part in a SmackDown Tag Team Turmoil match for the vacant World Tag Team Championship, which was won by Legion of Doom (Animal and Heidenreich). Boogeyman then formed an alliance with Little Boogeyman, who appeared as his “mini-me”. The team competed in several tag team matches over the following weeks, but they were never able to win any of them.
His final WWE match
After his release, Boogeyman wrestled sporadically on the independent circuit. On October 31, 2009, he made an appearance for Harley Race’s World League Wrestling promotion, wrestling WLW Heavyweight Champion Cody Rhodes in a non-title match, which he lost.
Boogeyman’s last WWE match came on the October 6, 2010 episode of SmackDown, where he was defeated by Drew McIntyre. After the match, McIntyre attacked him with a steel chair until Kane made the save.
Boogeyman’s Post-WWE Career
Boogeyman was released from WWE in May of 2008. He would work the indy circuit for a while. In 2010, he would join TNA. He would make several appearances for them until he was released in 2012. He would then join Lucha Underground in 2014. He would stay with them until he was injured in early 2016.
His post-WWE appearances
Since his release from WWE in 2008, Martin has appeared on a few independent wrestling shows and conventions. He made his first post-WWE appearance at Hardcore Roadtrip’s fifth anniversary show on March 7, 2009, where he defeated Devon Moore. On August 29, 2009, Martin made an appearance for IWA Mid-South’s Ted Petty Invitational tournament, where he was defeated in the first round by Mance Warner. In December 2009, Boogeyman appeared at Ohio Valley Wrestling’s Christmas Chaos event, teaming with Blue Meanie in a losing effort to The Batten Twins (Bill and Randy).
In 2010, Boogeyman made several appearances for Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW). On May 22, he teamed up with Levi Blu to take on The Bruisers ( Brendan Burke and Sean Dennison) in a losing effort. Two months later on July 10th, Boogeyman competed in a fatal four-way match also involving Robby Agee, Scorpio Sky and Adam Cole to determine the number one contender for the MCW Heavyweight Championship; Agee won the match. In October 2010, Boogeyman took part in MCW’s Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup tournament. He was eliminated in the first round by Drolix.
On December 5, 2015, Boogeyman returned to WWE as part of Old School Raw. He scared Heath Slater backstage before getting into a brawl with him which resulted in both men being ejected from the arena by security guards.
His current wrestling status
Boogeyman is still wrestling on the independent circuit. He has made sporadic appearances for WWE since his release in 2008, most notably at Old School Raw in 2014 and the 2017 Royal Rumble. In 2019, he wrestled at an NXT live event.
