The team with the most Stanley Cup wins in history is the Montreal Canadiens, who have won a total of 24 championships. The next closest team is the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have won a total of 13 championships. The Detroit Red Wings, who have won a total of 11 championships, are third on the list.

Founded in 1909, the Canadiens are the longest continuously operating professional ice hockey team worldwide, and the only existing NHL club to predate the founding of the NHL. One of the oldest North American professional sports franchises, the Canadiens play in the NHL as a member of the league’s Original Six.
