The Four Grand Slam Tournaments
The four Grand Slam tournaments, also called majors, are the most important annual tennis events. They offer the most ranking points, prize money, public and media attention, the greatest strength and size of field, and greater number of “best of” sets for men. The Grand Slam itinerary consists of the Australian Open in mid-January, the French Open in May–June, Wimbledon in June–July, and the US Open in August–September. Each tournament is played over two weeks. The Australian and United States tournaments are played on hardcourts, the French on clay courts, and Wimbledon on grass courts.
The Masters 1000 tournaments

The tournaments are the most important annual male tennis events after the four Grand Slam tournaments. The series encompasses 21 tournaments, with events taking place in Europe, North America, and Asia. Each tournament is hosted in a different city, with a maximum of 9 events taking place in any single country. The tournaments are played on hard courts, and are generally scheduled to take place during the second half of the tennis season.
The ATP World Tour 500 tournaments
The ATP World Tour 500 tournaments (previously known as the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and ATP Championship Series, Single-Year) are 21 annual men’s tennis tournaments that form the second-highest echelon in men’s tennis.
The series includes all four Grand Slam tournaments, the eight mandatory Masters tournaments, and three of the five ATP World Tour Finals positions.Players who perform well in these events gain automatic entry into the year-end ATP World Tour Finals, with additional points available for each victory. Historically, most of the world’s best players have competed regularly in the 500 Series tournaments.
The ATP World Tour 250 tournaments
The ATP World Tour 250 tournaments are a series of men’s tennis tournaments held around the world that are part of the ATP World Tour. The tour is organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals.
There are currently 32 tournaments in the series, with events held in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. The prize money for each event ranges from $ 226,750 to $ 1,127,500.

The Davis Cup
The Davis Cup is an international tennis tournament that is currently underway. This tournament occurs every year and features teams from all around the world. The Davis Cup is a very prestigious event and is one of the most watched tennis tournaments of the year.
The Fed Cup
The Fed Cup is the premier international team event in women’s tennis. First played in 1963, the competition features teams from around the world competing in a one-week, round-robin tournament. The Fed Cup is played on a home-and-away basis, with the winning team decided by total number of matches won. The event is organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is currently contested by eight national teams.
The Fed Cup is named after its founder, Theodore M. “Ted” Churchill, who was an Englishman living in Boston at the time. Churchill was an avid tennis fan and wanted to create a team competition that would be similar to the Davis Cup (a men’s tournament that had been established 25 years earlier). After gaining support from several of his countrymen, Churchill created the first ever Fed Cup team consisting of four players: Doris Hart, Billie Jean King, Joan Giles, and Nancy Richey. The United States went on to win that first ever Fed Cup title, defeating Australia in the final 3-2.
Today, the Fed Cup is contested by eight national teams: Australia, Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and Switzerland. The United States has dominated the tournament since its inception, winning a record 18 titles (including 17 consecutive titles from 1986 to 2002). The current champion is Czech Republic who defeated Germany in the 2016 final.
