When Does NBA 2K22 Drop?

Release date

2K hasn’t announced an NBA 2K22 release date just yet, though we do know that the game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC sometime in 2021. Check out the trailer above for a look at what’s in store.

Interestingly, there’s no mention of a next-gen version for PS4 and Xbox One in the trailer. It’s possible that 2K is planning to launch NBA 2K22 as a cross-generation game like Madden NFL 21, NHL 21, FIFA 21, and MLB The Show 21, which would mean that those who own a PS4 or Xbox One would be able to upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for free.

Gameplay

On offense, you have a lot of control over your players. You can pick and choose which plays to run, you can call for picks, and you can even make movements off the ball to try and create space for yourself or your teammates. The shooting has been completely revamped, and it feels great. There’s a much higher skill ceiling in NBA 2K22, and I’m excited to see what the best players in the world will be able to do with the new mechanics.

On defense, you now have more control over your team’s defensive strategy. You can choose to trap ball handlers, you can drop back in coverage, or you can switch on every screen. There are a lot of different ways to play defense now, and it’s going to take some time to figure out what works best. I’m looking forward to experimenting with different defensive strategies and seeing how they impact the game.

The biggest change in NBA 2K22 is the addition of the WNBA. You can now play as any of the 12 teams in the WNBA, as well as create your own player and join an online league. I’m excited to see how the WNBA will impact the game, and I’m looking forward to playing against players from all over the world.
