NBA Finals Schedule
The NBA Finals is the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Eastern and Western conference champions play a best-of-seven game series to determine the league champion. The winning team of the series receives the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
NBA Finals Game 1
The 2019 NBA Finals will begin on Thursday, May 30th at 9pm ET on ABC. The Warriors have home-court advantage as the better seed, so if the series goes to a Game 7, it will be played in Oakland on June 16th.
NBA Finals Game 2
Game 2 of the NBA Finals will be held on Sunday, June 2 at 8 p.m. ET. The Golden State Warriors will be looking to even the series at 1-1 as they take on the Toronto Raptors at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
NBA Finals Game 3
The NBA Finals are the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Eastern and Western conference champions play a best-of-seven game series to determine the league champion. The winning team of the series receives the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, which replaced the Walter A. Brown Trophy in 1983.
The NBA Finals were first held in 1947, four years after the NBA was founded. The championship series was initially known as the BAA Finals prior to the 1949 merger with the National Basketball League (NBL). The competition oversaw several name changes throughout its early years, including the World Professional Basketball Tournament (1952), played by teams of league legends and future Hall of Famers such as George Mikan’s Minneapolis Lakers; and the NBA World Championship Series (1955), in which Bill Russell’s Boston Celtics defeated Bob Pettit’s St. Louis Hawks 4–3 to win their first of what would become an unprecedented eight straight titles. The Miami Heat won back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013, becoming the first team since Russell’s Celtics to achieve this feat; they then went on to win a third consecutive title in 2014, thus becoming known as “the dynasty of the 2010s”.
NBA Finals Game 4
The NBA Finals are the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The eastern and western conference champions play a best-of-seven game series to determine the league champion. The winning team of the series receives the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
The NBA Finals have been played annually since 1947. Prior to 1979, the tournament was known as the NBA World Championship Series. Between 1947 and 1955, teams from only two cities competed in the finals, which were played in one city. From 1956 to 1974, four teams from each conference competed in a best-of-seven semifinal series prior to the finals, with four teams advancing to play for the championship. In 1975, 1977, 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986, and 1988 oneteam from each conference received a first-round bye as divisional playoff winners.
The number of teams competing in the NBA Finals has varied over time. The first finals series was contested between the Philadelphia Warriors and Chicago Stags in 1947; each team had won their respective divisional playoff series to advance. When the NBA merged with the Basketball Association of America in 1949 two additional teams qualified for playoffs; as a result three teams played in that year’s finals. From 1953 onward there were always at least four teams qualifying for post-season play; as a result all finals series since 1953 have been played between two pairs of teams (each with one day of rest after playing their previous seven-game series).
NBA Finals Game 5
The 2020 NBA Finals will begin on Thursday, September 24, with Game 1 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. The series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format, meaning that the team with home-court advantage (currently the Los Angeles Lakers) will host Games 1, 2, 5 and 7. The other team (currently the Miami Heat) will host Games 3, 4 and 6.
If necessary, Game 7 will be played on Sunday, October 11. All games will be broadcast on ABC. Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy will call the action for ABC for the 16th consecutive year, while Mark Jackson and Chris Webber will serve as the lead analysts. Doris Burke will serve as a courtside reporter.
NBA Finals Game 6
The potential Game 6 of the NBA Finals will take place on Sunday, June 16th at 8 p.m. ET. If the Los Angeles Lakers win Game 5 on Friday, they will clinch the series and be crowned NBA champions. However, if the Miami Heat win Game 5, a Game 6 will be necessary to determine who will win the 2020 NBA Finals.
NBA Finals Game 7
The 2020 NBA Finals will be the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2019–20 season and conclusion of the season’s playoffs. The Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat will play the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers in a best-of-seven playoff series for the NBA championship. The series is scheduled to begin on October 6, 2020 and will end no later than October 21.
