Introduction
The National Football League playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the end of the regular season to determine the champion of the NFL. The tournament culminates in the Super Bowl, which is usually held in early February.
The regular season
During the regular season, each team plays 16 games over a 17-week period. The regular season starts in early September and runs until late December. In addition to the 16 regular season games, each team also plays one preseason game. The preseason games are played in August, and they don’t count towards the regular season record.
