Date

The 2021 NBA draft is an upcoming draft scheduled to be held on July 29, 2021, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

This will mark the first time that the draft will be held in July since its inception in 1947. The 2020 NBA draft was originally scheduled to be held on June 25, 2020, at Barclays Center. However, the pandemic forced the league to reschedule the event to November 18, 2020.

The 2021 draft will also mark the first time that it will be held in primetime on a Friday night. ESPN will televise the event live for the United States audience.
It is currently unknown how many rounds the 2021 NBA draft will have or how many prospects will be invited to attend the event.

Eligibility

All players who will turn 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft and who did not complete four years of their college eligibility are automatically eligible for the draft. Additionally, any player whose 22nd birthday falls on or before December 31 of the year of the draft is also automatically eligible.

Age

You must be at least 18 years old on or before December 31 of the year of the draft to be eligible.

College

To be eligible for the draft, you must be:
1. At least 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft.
2. At least one year removed from the graduation of your high school class.
In other words, if you graduated high school in 2020, you would have to wait until the 2021 draft to be eligible.
3. Not listed on an NBA G League roster as of the early entry deadline

International

In order to be eligible for the NBA draft, international players must turn 19 during the calendar year of the draft and must not have previously signed a professional contract with a team outside of the NBA.

The previous rule stated that international players had to turn 22 during the calendar year of the draft, but that was changed in an effort to allow young players to enter the NBA earlier in their careers. Players who meet these criteria are automatically eligible for the draft and do not have to declare their eligibility like college players do.
