It’s no secret that some states have more than one NFL team. But which states have the most? We did a little research to find out.
NFL Teams by State
California, Florida, and Texas are the states with more than one NFL team. California has the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. Florida has the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Texas has the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans.
Alabama
The NFL has two teams in Alabama: the Birmingham Iron and the Crimson Tide. Both teams are based in Birmingham.
Arizona
There are two NFL teams in Arizona: the Cardinals and the Buccaneers. The Cardinals play their home games in Phoenix, while the Buccaneers play their home games in Tampa.
California
California is home to two NFL teams: the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. Both teams are in the NFC West division. The 49ers play their home games at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, while the Rams play at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
Colorado

There are a total of 32 NFL teams, and of those teams, only two states have more than one team. Those states are California and Florida. The state of California has two teams, the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers. The state of Florida has two teams as well, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins.
Arizona
At the moment, there are four NFL teams in the state of Arizona. They are the Cardinals, who play in Glendale and were founded in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club, making them the oldest existing professional football team in the United States. Then, there are the Arizona Rattlers, who play in Phoenix and compete in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The Rattlers were founded in 1992. The third team is the Tucson Sugar Skulls, who play in Tucson and also compete in the IFL; they were founded in 2018. Finally, there is the Phoenix Rise, who play in Tempe and compete in the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA); they too were founded in 2018.

You might not think of Indiana when you think of professional football, but the state is actually home to two NFL teams: the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions. The Colts are one of the most successful franchises in NFL history, winning two Super Bowls, while the Lions have never won a championship. Both teams play in different divisions, so they don’t see much action against each other.
