Who Is Left In NBA Free Agency?
Contents
With the NBA season on hold, we take a look at which free agents are still available.
Top Remaining Players
Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kevin Durant have all been signed, but there are still many talented players left on the market. Here are the top 10 remaining players in the 2019 NBA free agency.
Kyrie Irving
One of the top point guards in the league, Kyrie Irving is a 6-time NBA All-Star and was the 2017 All-Star Game MVP. He was also the 2016 Olympic gold medalist and helped lead the Cavaliers to their first ever NBA championship in 2016. After playing the first six seasons of his career with Cleveland, Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2017. In his two seasons with the Celtics, Irving has averaged 23.8 points, 5.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Kemba Walker
Kemba Walker is an American professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted ninth overall in the 2011 NBA draft by Charlotte. Walker played college basketball for the Connecticut Huskies and was named consensus first-team All-American as a sophomore. As a junior, he helped lead Connecticut to a 32–9 record and an NCAA championship, being named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. As a senior, he earned second-team all-conference honors in the Big East and was a finalist for both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Player of the Year Award and John R. Wooden Award.
Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler is one of the top players remaining in NBA free agency. After playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers, Butler is now a member of the Miami Heat. He is a four-time NBA All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2015.
Best Available Big Men
The 2020 NBA Free Agency class isn’t loaded with a ton of top-end talent, but there are still some good players available. This list will take a look at the best big men who are still available in free agency.
Nikola Vucevic
The 2020 NBA free agency period has been one of the wildest in recent memory, with big names like Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and Kyrie Irving all finding new homes.
One name that has flown under the radar is Nikola Vucevic, who is arguably the best free agent big man still available.
The 28-year-old center averaged a career-high 20.8 points and 12 rebounds per game last season for the Orlando Magic, and was named an All-Star for the first time in his eight-year career.
Vucevic is also a very good shooter, knocking down nearly 42 percent of his three-pointers last season. His ability to stretch the floor would be a valuable asset for any team in today’s NBA.
So far in free agency, Vucevic has garnered interest from the Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors, and Boston Celtics. It remains to be seen where he will end up, but there is no doubt that he will be a valuable addition to whichever team is lucky enough to sign him.
Enes Kanter
The former Knicks big man surprisingly became a fan favorite in New York thanks to his outgoing personality and social media presence. He also proved to be a productive player on the court, averaging 14 points and 10.5 rebounds in 26 games with the Knicks last season. However, Kanter is a defensive liability, which will likely limit his market this offseason.
Julius Randle
The New York Knicks struck out on their top targets in free agency, but they did manage to sign Julius Randle to a three-year, $63 million deal.
Randle is coming off of a career year with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he averaged 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He shot 52.4 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from three-point range, both of which are career-highs.
The 24-year-old forward should be a good fit in New York’s offense as he is an excellent finishing around the basket and is also capable of creating his own shot. He will likely be the Knicks’ starting power forward next season.
Top Shooters
After a wild first week of free agency, a number of the NBA’s top shooters are still left on the open market.
Bojan Bogdanovic
Bojan Bogdanovic is one of the best shooters left in free agency, and he would be a great addition to any team. Bogdanovic is a 6’8″ forward who can shoot the three-ball and play some defense. He averaged 14.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season, and he shot 42.5% from three-point range. Bogdanovic would be a great role player on a contending team, and he would also be a good fit on a rebuilding team that needs some shooting.
JJ Redick
Redick is a sharpshooter who specializes in catch-and-shoot situations. He averaged 17.1 points and 2.7 assists per game last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. He shot 42 percent from three-point range.
Danny Green
Danny Green, one of the top shooters left in NBA free agency, averaged 10.3 points per game last season for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Best Defenders
As the summer nears its end, most of the big names in NBA free agency have already found new homes. Teams have been busy making trades and signing free agents to fill out their rosters for the upcoming season. But there are still a few good players left on the market. Here is a look at some of the best defenders who are still available.
Andre Iguodala
Andre Iguodala is a 35-year-old American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. Iguodala has played 16 seasons in the NBA, winning three championships, one Finals MVP, and one All-Star selection. He has also been named to the All-Defensive team twice. Iguodala is considered one of the best defensive players of his generation and was a key player on the Golden State Warriors’ dynastic teams of the 2010s.
Patrick Beverley
Patrick Beverley is one of the best defensive players in the NBA. He has great size for a point guard at 6’1″, and he is an excellent perimeter defender. He is also a very good rebounder for a guard, averaging over four rebounds per game in his career.
Beverley is not a great offensive player, but he is a good three-point shooter, and he does a good job of running the point for his team. He is not a very good playmaker for others, however, as he has only averaged 3.4 assists per game in his career.
Beverley is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and he will likely command a high salary on the open market.
Avery Bradley
Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley has been one of the best defenders in the NBA for years. He’s a two-time All-Defensive team member and was named to the All-NBA Defensive second team in 2016. Bradley is a free agent this offseason, and while he’s had some injury problems in recent years, he’s still one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
