The NBA’s top teams A Power Ranking

In a league filled with parity, it can be tough to separate the true contenders from the teams that are simply masquerading as such. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the NBA’s Top Teams and see where they stand in our power rankings

1. Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are the clear-cut best team in the NBA right now. They have all of the ingredients necessary to win a championship: two All-Stars, a deep bench, and smart coaching. They also have the added bonus of being incredibly fun to watch.

2. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are unquestionably the second-best team in the NBA. They have the best player in the world in Lebron James and a solid supporting cast. Their only weakness is their lack of depth, but they make up for it with sheer talent.

3. Houston Rockets
The Rockets are a very good team, but they’re not quite on the same level as the Warriors or Cavaliers. They have two All-Stars in James Harden and Chris Paul but their supporting cast is lacking. Still, they’re one of the most entertaining teams in the league and a force to be reckoned with come playoff time.

4. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder are another good team that falls just short of greatness. They have two superstars in Russell Westbrook and Paul George, but their bench is thin and they don’t have much firepower outside of their starting lineup However, they always seem to find a way to compete and should be feared come playoff time.

5. Boston Celtics
The Celtics are a very good team that is on the rise. They have a young core of talented players, led by Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum and they added an All-Star this offseason in Gordon Hayward They may not be ready to dethrone the Warriors or Cavaliers yet, but they’re definitely heading in that direction.

The Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently the top team in the NBA. They have a record of 33-10 and are first in the Eastern Conference The Cavaliers are led by superstar Lebron James who is averaging 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists per game The Cavaliers have won 16 of their last 17 games and are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. If they can keep up this level of play, they should be able to win the NBA Finals this year.

The Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team based in San Francisco The Warriors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division The Warriors have won five NBA championships since 1947, when the franchise was known as the Philadelphia Warriors

The Warriors were founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors, a charter member of the Basketball Association of America (BAA). They were owned by Peter A. Tyrrell, who also owned the Philadelphia Rockets of the American Hockey League Tyrrell hired Eddie Gottlieb, a Time Basketball promoter in the city, as coach and General Manager The owners named the team after an early professional team in the city that went by the name of “Warriors.”

Gottlieb brought in Alex Groza and Ralph Beard as players with championship experience from Kentucky. The team also signed draft picks George Mikan and Jim Pollard; both would go on to have successful careers. Gottlieb himself had been an All-American player at Pennsylvania; he was one of several players on both rosters with college basketball experience.

The San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are one of the NBA’s top teams The team is currently in first place in the Western Conference with a record of 61-12. The Spurs are coached by Gregg Popovich and led by All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard Other Key Players on the team include LaMarcus Aldridge, Tony Parker and Danny Green The Spurs are known for their strong defense and efficient offense.

The Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the NBA’s top teams They have a wealth of talent, including superstars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant They also have a deep bench, and they’re well-coached by Billy Donovan The Thunder are a solid all-around team, and they’re capable of beating anyone on any given night.

The Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers are an American professional Basketball team based in Los Angeles The Clippers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division They play their home games at Staples Center

The franchise was founded in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, one of three expansion teams to join the NBA that year. The Braves moved from Buffalo, New York to San Diego California in 1978 and became known as the San Diego Clippers. In 1984, The Clippers moved to Los Angeles

The franchise has had a tumultuous history, marked by poor management and bad luck. Between the 1997–98 and 2011–12 seasons, they failed to make the playoffs in 14 consecutive seasons, the longest such streak in NBA history for a team that never relocated. In 2012–13, they won 48 games under Head Coach Vinny Del Negro and made their first playoff appearance since 2006–07. That season ended with a first-round playoff loss to Memphis Grizzlies

After enduring another rebuilding year chartered by head coach Doc Rivers, they qualified for the playoffs again in 2015 behind All-Star Power Forward Blake Griffin and rookie Head Coach Dave Joerger, but were again bounced out of postseason contention by the Portland Trail Blazers in seven games during their first round matchup.

The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies Since their debut, the Raptors have been one of the league’s weaker teams, never having won more than 50 games in a season. However, they reached the playoffs for the first time in 2000 and have been fairly competitive since then.

The Raptors play their home games at the Air Canada Centre, which they share with the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada, along with Vancouver’s Grizzlies. Maple Leaf Gardens Limited (MLGL), owners of the Maple Leafs and part-owners of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), which also owned and operated the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and Toronto FC of Major League Soccer (MLS), won a bid to bring an NBA Franchise to Toronto during the 1990s NBA expansion bidding. Given that GTA Basketball Partners Ltd., a group which represented cinema chain Cineplex Odeon Corp., had also placed a bid to bring an NBA team to Toronto during this same expansion process, it was decided that both bids were strong enough to be accepted, with each group becoming an equal partner in owning MLSE. MLGL served as consultants regarding team management while establishing its own management team for the new franchise; it hired Isiah Thomas as general manager in May 1995.

The Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are one of the top teams in the NBA. They have a lot of talent and they are well coached. They are a tough team to play against.

The Houston Rockets

They are led by All-Star guard James Harden who is averaging 29.1 points and 11.2 assists per game The Rockets have a potent offense that is averaging 115.5 points per game which is fourth in the NBA. They also have a solid defense, which is allowing only 103.9 points per game which is sixth in the league. The Rockets are a well-rounded team that has a chance to make a deep run in the playoffs.

The Utah Jazz

The 2016-17 Utah Jazz were one of the biggest surprises in the NBA. Led by breakout star Rudy Gobert the Jazz finished the season with a 51-31 record, good for 4th in the Western Conference After losing in the first round of the playoffs to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors the Jazz have reloaded for 2017-18 and look like a genuine threat to make a deep playoff run.
