Team USA’s History
Team USA has a long and successful history in baseball. They have won the World Baseball Classic twice, in 2013 and 2017. They have also won the Intercontinental Cup three times, in 2007, 2009, and 2013. The team is made up of the best baseball players in the United States.
World Baseball Classic
The World Baseball Classic (WBC) is an international baseball tournament sanctioned from 2006 to 2013 by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and after 2013 by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). It featured the national teams of countries in which baseball is a popular sport.
The tournament was created in order to further spread the popularity of the sport of baseball around the world, as well as to serve as a crowning achievement for the sport’s greatest amateurs. The WBC began in 2006, and was held every four years. The last WBC ran from March 2 to 19, 2009.
Team USA made its debut in the 2009 WBC, and has participated in all five iterations of the tournament. The 2017 classic was particularly special for Team USA, as it marked the first time that the team had won the WBC title.
Olympic Games
Team USA has a long and successful history in the Olympic Games. They have won a total of 25 medals, including nine gold medals. Most recently, they won the gold medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. They also won bronze in the 2004 Athens Olympics and silver in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Schedule
The United States will open the tournament against Colombia on March 7, followed by the Dominican Republic on March 8. They will then face Venezuela on March 9. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the semifinals, which will be played on March 11. The championship game will take place on March 12.
