Who Is Still A Free Agent in the NFL?

The NFL season is just around the corner, and there are still some big-name free agents out there. Who will sign with a team before the season starts?

Tom Brady

Tom Brady, one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history, is still a free agent. The six-time Super Bowl champion has not decided which team he will play for in the 2020 season. Brady’soptions appear to be the Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New England Patriots.

Drew Brees

Drew Brees, who spent 20 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, is the most notable free agent quarterback. He helped lead the team to a Super Bowl win in 2010 and was named the Super Bowl MVP. In 2019, he was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Cam Newton

Former league MVP Cam Newton remains a free agent, as does 2015 All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Other top free agents include defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, running back Melvin Gordon and linebacker Shaquil Barrett.

J.J. Watt

As of September 8th, 2020, J.J. Watt is still a free agent in the NFL.

Watt is a former first-round pick of the Houston Texans and is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. He is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, but he has battled injuries over the last few years.

The Texans released him in March and he has yet to sign with another team. It is unknown why he has not been signed yet, but there are rumors that teams are concerned about his health.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott is a free agent in the NFL. He was most recently with the Dallas Cowboys.

Jadeveon Clowney

Although Clowney was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina, he played college football for the University of South Carolina in Columbia, about an hour away from his hometown. In his three years with the Gamecocks, Clowney amassed 47.5 tackles for loss and 24 sacks. He was named a consensus All-American after his junior season in 2012 and was the recipient of the Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Hendricks Award, Lombardi Award and SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

Melvin Gordon

Melvin Gordon is a free agent running back who most recently played for the Los Angeles Chargers. He was a first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and he has earned two Pro Bowl selections in his career.

Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper is an American football wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was the Biletnikoff Award winner as the nation’s top receiver and a consensus All-American in 2014. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he led all NFL rookies with 72 receptions for 1,070 yards, and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. In 2016, he was named to his first Pro Bowl.

Yannick Ngakoue

Yannick Ngakoue is a free agent in the NFL. He is a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.
