In 2019 however things took another unique turn when Kofi Kingston won a Gauntlet Match to become only the third man ever to hold both championships together but this came at WrestleMania 35 where he defeated Daniel Bryan for just the WWE Championship meaning at this time there was now an active World Heavyweight Champion and an active WWE Champion which had not been seen since 2002/03; This situation continued until Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2020 unifying once again into one championship belt known simply as “The WWE Title” with no other stipulation such as “WWE World Heavyweight Title”.
