Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick is an American football coach who is the head coach of the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He has led the Patriots to nine Super Bowl appearances, winning five of them, making him one of the most successful coaches in NFL history. Belichick began his coaching career in 1975, and by 1985 he had become defensive coordinator for New York Giants head coach Bill Parcells. He later served as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1991 to 1995. After being fired by former Browns owner Art Modell, Belichick returned to the Patriots as an assistant coach under head coach Pete Carroll. When Carroll was hired as head coach of the Jets in 1997, Belichick resigned and became assistant head coach and defensive backs coach under Parcells with the Jets.

In 2016, the Philadelphia Eagles drafted quarterback Carson Wentz with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. Wentz was coming off of a season where he had thrown for over 3,700 yards and 28 touchdowns for North Dakota State. The Eagles were coming off of a 7-9 season and were in dire need of a franchise quarterback.

Wentz did not disappoint. In his rookie season, he threw for over 3,800 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also ran for another 6 touchdowns. He led the Eagles to an NFC East title and a playoff berth.

In his second season, Wentz took his game to another level. He threw for over 33 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. He was on pace to throw for over 4,000 yards when he suffered a season-ending injury in week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite the injury, Wentz was able to lead the Eagles to their first Super Bowl title in franchise history. He did this by mentoring backup quarterback Nick Foles and helping him prepare for the playoffs.

Foles went on to have an incredible run in the playoffs, culminating in a Super Bowl MVP performance. But make no mistake about it, without Carson Wentz, the Philadelphia Eagles would not be Super Bowl champions.
