LeBron James
LeBron Raymone James Sr. (/ləˈbrɒn/; born December 30, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Often compared to Michael Jordan in debates regarding the greatest basketball player of all time, James’ individual accolades and accomplishments have prompted some to dub him the “new king” of the NBA. He is one of only four players in NBA history to have accrued 29,000 points, 8,000 rebounds and 8,000 assists.[1][2] During his first decade in the league, James was named NBA Rookie of the Year (2004), NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) (2009 and 2010), Finals MVP (2012 and 2013), All-Star MVP (2006), All-NBA First Team five times, All-Defensive First Team five times, and became the all-time leading scorer in Cavaliers history.
James played high school basketball at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio,[3] where he was highly promoted in the national media as a future NBA superstar.[4][5] A prep-to-pro, he joined Cleveland in 2003 as the first overall draft pick.[6] Named NBA Rookie of the Year that season, he soon established himself among the league’s elite,[7] leading his team to consecutive playoff berths starting his second year.[8] Through his first ten seasons with Cleveland during which he earned nine trips to the NBA Finals – including championships in 2012 and 2016 – James saw little success; despite being selected as an All-Star each year and placing second for MVP honors four times within those years,[9][10] he could not lead his team past conference rivals such as Paul Pierce’s Boston Celtics or Dwight Howard’s Orlando Magic until finally getting over them while also defeating Derrick Rose’s Chicago Bulls en route to Cleveland’s first championship appearance since 2007.[11] In 2010, he left Cleveland for Miami in a highly publicized move. This move was announced on Sports Illustrated[12] with a letter penned by James.
In Miami, James won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013[13][14] and reached the Finals for four consecutive years,[15][16][17][18] winning two more championships. In 2013–14, he led Miami on a 27-game winning streak,[19][20]the third longest winning streak in league history.[21][22] Following his final season with Miami Heat in 2014–15,[23][24] James returned to Cleveland.[25][26 ] He led Cleveland to their second Finals appearance where they lost to Golden State Warriors in six games.[27 ] In 2016–17 ,he once again guided Cleveland to a fourth consecutive Eastern Conference title reaching 7 straight NBA Finals appearances , tying Bill Russell for most appearances at that point .[28][29 ] He faced elimination on multiple occasions throughout these playoffs but managed win Game 7’s against Indiana Pacers , Toronto Raptors & Boston Celtics respectively earning another Finals appearance against Golden State . One game into what would be his eighth consecutive trip to The Finals LeBron & co.’s quest for a championship came to an abrupt end being swept by Golden State .[30 ] Afterward ,it was revealed that James had played through significant injuries throughout most of postseason which included dealing with a self -diagnosed “significant right hand injury” suffered after punching a white board following Game 1 loss .
