Nadal, who is from Spain, is a clay-court specialist and has won the French Open a record nine times. He has also won two Wimbledon titles and an Olympic gold medal.
Won the French Open
Rafael Nadal of Spain won the French Open today, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. This is Nadal’s 12th French Open title and 20th Grand Slam title overall.
Won Wimbledon
Rafael Nadal of Spain won the Wimbledon men’s singles tennis tournament today, defeating Roger Federer of Switzerland in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7. Nadal is the first Spaniard to ever win Wimbledon.
Won the US Open
Rafael Nadal made tennis history today by winning the US Open. Nadal is the first player to win all four Grand Slams in a row, a feat that has not been accomplished since 1969. He joins an elite group of players who have won all four majors, including Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, and Rod Laver.
Nadal’s win today was especially impressive given that he had to come from behind to defeat Daniil Medvedev in the final. Medvedev had won the first set 6-4, but Nadal battled back to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-0. This is Nadal’s fourth US Open victory, and with this win he extends his lead in the all-time Grand Slam standings. He now has 19 major titles, three ahead of Federer.
Roger Federer
Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer won the Qatar Open today, defeating Germany’s Alexander Zverev in straight sets. This is Federer’s first title since he won Wimbledon in 2017. He is now the oldest player to ever win a title, at the age of 36.

Roger Federer won his 20th Grand Slam singles title at the 2017 Australian Open, defeating Rafael Nadal in five sets in the final, 6–4, 3–6, 6–1, 3–6, 6–3 to become the first man to win five Australian Open titles in the Open Era.

Roger Federer of Switzerland has won the Wimbledon Men’s Singles tennis tournament a record-breaking eight times. He first won the tournament in 2003, and has since gone on to win it in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012, and 2017. In addition to his Wimbledon wins, Federer has also won a total of nineteen Grand Slam singles titles. He is currently ranked as the world’s No. 2 men’s singles tennis player.
