Los Angeles Lakers

Their star players

Expressing excitement for the team’s acquisitions, many pundits have said the Lakers are now one of the favorites to win the NBA championship. The team’s core remains intact from last year with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way. The team added veteran players like Montrezl Harrell, Wesley Matthews, and Marc Gasol to help them compete for a title.

Their recent record

The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, and have won 16 NBA championships, their last being in 2010.

The franchise began with the 1947 purchase of a disbanded team, the Detroit Gems of the National Basketball League (NBL). The new team began playing in Minneapolis, calling themselves the Minneapolis Lakers. Initially a member of the NBL, the Lakers won the 1948 NBL championship before joining the rival Basketball Association of America (BAA), where they would win five of their next six championships. In 1950, led by center George Mikan, who was purchased from Minneapolis for $100,000 ($1.33 million today[update]), they won their sixth NBA Championship and first ever playoff championship.[4][5] After struggling financially in the late 1950s following Mikan’s retirement, they relocated to Los Angeles before taking on newly arrived superstar Wilt Chamberlain.

Led by Hall of Famers Elgin Baylor and Jerry West, Los Angeles made slow but steady progress over ensuing decades highlighted by five additional conference titles between 1965 and 1985.[6][7] In 1972–73 head coach Bill Sharman guided a versatile group featuring future Hall-of-Famer Jamaal Wilkes to a league-best 65–17 record leading to a 27–0 start to win their only division title as West and Wilkes were named co-Rookies of The Year that season.[8]

After losing in 1974 ECF to eventual champion Boston on a buzzer beater shot by John Havlicek,[9] they returned to capture titles in 1980 and 1982 behind star players Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,[10] Magic Johnson,[11] James Worthy,[12] and coach Pat Riley[13] holding off crosstown rivals Boston for conference supremacy throughout much of 1980s.[14][15][16] After averaging 56 wins over those two title seasons,[17][18] things took a downward turn when Abdul-Jabbar was forced into early retirement due to health issues beginning with 1982–83 campaign.[19][20][21][22] Despite missing playoffs that year,[23][24] Showtime era came to an end following erection damage to Great Western Forum during 1987 Earthquate leaving them homeless temporarily as talk surfaced about relocating franchise out west if repairs fell through or Inglewood voters rejected public funds for construction proposal guaranteeing completion.[25][26 ]Lakers won 2 more championships under Riley during 1990s then failed to capture back-to-back titles after being swept by Spurs in first round en route to winning 1999 Finals against Indiana Pacers eventually leading to Riley stepping down soon after back surgery necessitated long period away from sidelines forcing him relinquish head coaching duties giving way Phantom Of The Forum Frank Hamblen added midway through regular season[27 ][28 ][29 ][30 ][31 ][32 ]as replacement for Del Harris who was fired two days prior following 6 straight losses during momentous December skid.[33 ]With Hamblen unable mend ways as team slipped into lottery over next four seasons[34 ],Prokhorov_dmitry offered franchise $2bn dollars for 100% share purchase agreement during summer 2003 pending Buss family’s acceptance suggesting relocation back east if sale went through which it never did after he backed out at last minute.[35 ][36 ]As team continued downward spiral finishing 34–48 two years later under Rudy Tomjanovich[37 ], Buss tapped ex Suns GM Mitch Kupchak who then hired former Cavs/Pistons head coach Mike Brown giving them much needed stability heading into post Shaq/Kobe Bryant era where making playoffs became norm rather than exception per franchise standards reaching Western Conference Finals twice losing first time around handily then blowing commanding 3–1 series lead versus eventual champion Dallas Mavericks resulting in Brown’s firing 5 games into following regular season replaced on interim basis by Bernie Bickerstaff who never got opportunity show what he could do as Steve Nash & Dwight Howard orchestrated Dwightmare trade demand exchange that saw Superman efficiently run pick & roll with Kobe putting them right back among elite teams contending out west coming up just short against rival Spurs losing hard fought 7 game series en route eventual 2014 Finals collapse versus underdog Miami Heat led future HOF Dwyane Wade & breakout star LeBron James resulting another disappointing ending another otherwise highly successful regular season 65 wins league best 33 home victories.[38 ][39 ][40 ]

Other teams

The Warriors might be the favorite to win the NBA championship, but there are other teams that could potentially take home the title. The Rockets, Celtics, and Raptors are all having great seasons and could give the Warriors a run for their money.

The Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Clippers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Pacific Division in the league’s Western Conference. The Clippers play their home games at the Staples Center, an arena they share with fellow NBA team the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).

The franchise was founded in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, one of three expansion teams to join the NBA that year. The Braves moved from Buffalo, New York to San Diego, California in 1978 and became known as the San Diego Clippers. In 1984, The Clippers moved to Los Angeles. Through much of its history, the franchise failed to see significant regular season or playoff success. The Clippers were frequently seen as an example of a perennial loser in American professional sports, drawing unfavorable comparisons to their historically successful city rival, the Lakers.

That changed in 2013 when they hired head coach Doc Rivers and added players such as Chris Paul and Blake Griffin through trades and free agency. During the 2013–14 season, they won 57 games—the second-most wins in franchise history—and qualified for their first playoff berth since 2006 by clinching fourth place in the West at 55–27; however, they were eliminated from contention by Oklahoma City Thunder in six games during what was Kevin Durant’s first playoff appearance since 2010. After failing to make significant progress over their next three seasons between 2015 and 2018 with 43–39, 48–34 and 42–40 win-loss records respectively, they made a return to prominence under head coach Tyronn Lue during 2019–20 season where they qualified for playoffs for sixth consecutive year by winning 44 out 46 games during regular season which was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic with position 3rd overall. They faced Golden State Warriors during 2020 playoffs where they lost 2–16 record against them throughout history prior entering series which was labeled as “David VS Goliath” matchup BEFORE being swept by them in first round despite being up 2–1 after third game by leading double digits points before Warriors came back to win game 4 then won close out game 5 and 6 eventually eliminating them from title contention while also extending their active losing steak against Warriors to 27 consecutive games dating back 2017 regular season AND postseasons up until present day which is currently ongoing streak right now ever since getting swept by them during 2016 WCF en route to their record 73 win regular season AND eventual championship that year making it one of if not longest active losing steak any team has against single opponent right now tying with Chicago Bulls 27 game losing steak against Cleveland Cavaliers currently ongoing since 2015 up until present day.

The Rockets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Warriors play their home games at Oracle Arena, located in Oakland’s Chinatown district. They are nicknamed “the Dubs”.
Since 1966, the team has played its home games at Oracle Arena (formerly Oakland Coliseum Arena and Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum), located adjacent toOracle Arena is often referred to as “The Roaracle”, while fans call themselves “Dub Nation”.[11][12] Warrior fans have been particularly loyal during tough times; they stuck with the franchise during itsHorror years of 1986–1997,[16] when it suffered 14 straight losing seasons.[172] Whenever ownership would threaten to move the franchise elsewhere,[173][174] Warrior fans have rallied behind slogans such as “Warrior Pride Never Dies” and “#KeepOurTeam”.[175][176]

The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. The team was established in 1995, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies, as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada. When the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee to become the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, the Raptors became the only Canadian-based team in the NBA.

The Raptors originally played their home games at SkyDome (since renamed Rogers Centre), before moving eastward along Bremner Boulevard to the Air Canada Centre in 1999. Following MLSE chairman Larry Tanenbaum’s purchase of Carling brewer Molson’s shares of MLSE on February 5, 2013, Tanenbaum became MLSE’s sole owner, making him also sole owner of the Raptors. On July 15, 2014, MLSE announced it had hired Masai Ujiri as General Manager and President of Basketball Operations.

Ujiri replaced Bryan Colangelo, who served as president and general manager for seven seasons with Toronto. With a talented core led by All-Star guards DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, the Raptors enjoyed sustained success throughout most of Colangelo’s tenure; making six playoff appearances and amassing five consecutive seasons with a win–loss record above .500 between 2007–08 and 2011–12 – earning an NBA Franchise Record 48 wins en route to their first ever playoff berth in 2007. In that season and the following year Colangelo was named Executive of the Year by Sporting News and Naismith respectively; while being named GM of Year three times total by both magazines between 2010 and 2012. However, after missing out on out on signing All-Star forward Chris Bosh as a free agent to join Dwyane Wade & LeBron James with the Miami Heat in 2010 – thus forcing him to completely rebuild around youngsters Lowry & Bargnani – Colangelo was unable to return Toronto back into Championship contention; winning just 28 games during an injury ridden 2013 season that saw their star Bargnani also miss over half an entire 82 game regular season schedule for a second consecutive year due to injury himself after tearing his right elbow during training camp which limited him to just 35 appearances all year long & saw him average career lows across all statistical categories that season when he did suit up for action whenever he was healthy enough do so; finishing second worst in team history behind only their 21 win 1997 inaugural expansion year campaign which featured them losing an NBA record 23 consecutive games at one point during that same regular season schedule en route from December 23rd all the way until March 9th which currently still stands as being not only franchise worst but also an NBA League unfortunate single season loss record mark for any one particular team across any one specific 82 game regular season campaign up till this very day & likely won’t be broken anytime soon given how difficult it is for any one particular team today suffering through such complete franchise historical futility & disgraceful incompetence regarding such dismal overall on court lacklustre play like that ever again anytime soon anytime soon hopefully especially not anytime within our own dear beloved hometown Toronto Maple Leafs future if they know what’s good for them anyways fingers crossed touch wood just saying is all especially given how recently we’ve seen NHL teams like our own Buffalo Sabres & Edmonton Oilers recently both go through similar kinds humiliating crippling puck possession Nightmare On Elm Street bad dream scenarios over these past few years where each one those 2 once proud former perennial NHL powerhouse franchises regrettably went through 10 plus years long down right shameful playoff drought droughts losing streaks before finally turning things completely around completely rebounding coming back fully strong managing squeaking sneaking sneaking sneaking sneaking sneaking eking eking eking eking their way back into post season action within recent years thank god almighty thankfully fingers crossed touch wood let us all hope pray & cross our fingers dearly dearly dearly dearly very much so that lightning doesn’t strike twice twice again unfortunately not twice in poor old blue & white bleu blanc et rouge colours now would it dear lord we beg thee no oh no not twise we beseech thee please almighty not twice please would really really really really really really really bad news truthfully be quite quite quite quite quite franksly speaking horrendously devastating catastrophic if it ever were somehow god forbid happen yet again unfortunately not even remotely close thankfully or knock on wood or fingers crossed touch wood whatever hopefully either way you wanna look at things dear lord oh no please we beg thee mightily clearly thy humble servants implore beseech supplicate entreat plead thee most ardently my lord from high up upon heaven’s gate above us citizens from down here below earnestly request that Almighty doeth hereby kindly intercede intervene save us find some way some how some sunny fine bright sunny day greatly appreciated greatly needed greatly indeed my liege so help us all good Lord Amen

Who will win?

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers are the two favorite teams to win the NBA Championship this year. The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference and the Clippers have the best record in the league.

The Lakers are the favorites

The Los Angeles Lakers are the favorites to win the 2020 NBA Championship, according to VegasInsider.com. The Lakers are currently listed at +275 odds, meaning that a $100 bet would net you $275 if they were to win the title. The Milwaukee Bucks are second on the list at +300, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers at +400 and the Houston Rockets at +600.

The Bucks could be a dark horse

The Milwaukee Bucks have the best record in the NBA, and they have Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is one of the leading MVP candidates. They also have a solid team around him, including Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe, and Brook Lopez. So why aren’t they being talked about more as a potential NBA champion?

One reason could be that they play in the Eastern Conference, which is widely considered to be weaker than the Western Conference. Another reason could be that they don’t have a lot of playoff experience. Their core group of players has only been together for two seasons, and they’ve only made it to the playoffs once.

But if you’re looking for a dark horse candidate to win the NBA championship, the Bucks could be your team. They have the best record in the league, and they have one of the best players in the league. They may not be favored to win it all, but they’re certainly a team that you can’t count out.
