The Current Season

The Teams
The 2019-20 NBA regular season is finally here! After a long offseason, a hectic training camp and preseason slate, the Association is back with a bang.
All 30 NBA teams will be in action on Opening Night, with 22 of them playing on Opening Night itself. The playoff picture from last season has changed quite a bit with some star players switching teams, but the goal remains the same for all teams: win an NBA championship.
Here’s a look at each team and what to expect from them this season:
Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks are in full-on rebuild mode and are unlikely to be competitive this season. They have some young pieces that they can develop, but it will be another long year in Atlanta.
Boston Celtics: The Celtics are one of the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference. They made some big moves in the offseason, acquiring All-Star point guard Kemba Walker to replace Kyrie Irving. They also have one of the best young cores in the league, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Brooklyn Nets: The Nets are another team that made big moves in the offseason, acquiring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency. Durant won’t play this season as he recovers from an Achilles injury, but Irving will lead the way for Brooklyn. The Nets also have a solid supporting cast that includes Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince.
The NBA Players
The Stars
In the National Basketball Association (NBA), a headline is a player who is projected to have an especially influential role on their team or the league as a whole. Headlines are also players who have been deemed “superstars” by the media, irrespective of their on-court accomplishments.
The Role Players
The role players are the guys who come in and do the dirty work. They’re not always the most skilled or talented guys on the court, but they’re the ones who are willing to do whatever it takes to help their team win. These are the guys who will dive for loose balls, set hard screens, and play tough defense. Every team needs role players, and they can often be the difference between winning and losing.
The NBA Coaches
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the preeminent men’s professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world. It has thirty teams, and is a member of USA Basketball. The head coach of each NBA team has a great deal of responsibility and latitude in running his team.
The Head Coaches
The current head coaches in the NBA are:
-Ettore Messina, Los Angeles Lakers
-Luke Walton, Sacramento Kings
-Jay Wright, Philadelphia 76ers
-Tyronn Lue, Cleveland Cavaliers
-Mike D’Antoni, Houston Rockets

-Rick Carlisle, Dallas Mavericks

The Assistant Coaches
Assistant coaches in the National Basketball Association (NBA) are assistant coaches who work on the coaching staff of one of the 30 teams in the NBA. Many assistant coaches have played basketball at some point in their lives, at either the collegiate or professional level. Assistants coach under the head coach, and typically hold defined roles and responsibilities.
A lead assistant coach, often called an associate head coach, is typically someone who has been an assistant coach for many years and has served under multiple head coaches. They usually run the practices, while the head coach is busy with game-planning and scouting opponents. It is not uncommon for lead assistants to get promoted to a head coaching position within the league.
Other assistant coaches typically have more defined roles, such as working with a specific player or group of players on their game (player development), focusing on scout team preparation (opposition scouting), or being responsible for strength and conditioning.

No matter where you fall on the spectrum, there’s something for everyone when it comes to the NBA.
The vast majority of NBA fans are casual fans who only watch the playoffs. This is because the regular season is very long and can be quite tedious. The playoffs, on the other hand, are much shorter and are full of intense drama and excitement. For casual fans, this is the perfect time to tune in and watch some basketball.
Die-hard NBA fans are another group that makes up a significant portion of the fan base. These fans live and breathe basketball and make sure to watch every single game. They may only root for one team or they may follow the league as a whole. These fans make up a large part of the NBA’s fan base and help keep things interesting for everyone involved.
