Who’s the 2022 NFL MVP?

The National Football League Most Valuable Player Award is an annual American football award given by the National Football League (NFL). The winner of the award is usually announced in early February, right after the Super Bowl. This year, the favorite for the award is ____________.

Tom Brady

Tom Brady is an American football quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He is one of only two players to have won five Super Bowls (the other being Charles Haley), and he is the only player to have won them all with a single team.

Age

Tom Brady will turn 43 in August, just before the start of the NFL season. That would make him the oldest player in NFL history to win MVP, a title currently held by Peyton Manning, who was 37 when he won in 2013. Brady would also become the first player to win MVP at age 40 or older since Brett Favre did it in 2009.

Recent Success

Since joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, Brady has led the team to a Super Bowl victory in his first year. The following season, Brady and the Bucs finished with a 10-6 record and narrowly missed out on the playoffs. In 2022, Brady will be looking to lead the Bucs back to the playoffs and try to win another MVP award.

Experience

Tom Brady has been in the NFL for 20 years, playing for the New England Patriots. During that time, he has won six Super Bowls and three MVP awards. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

Drew Brees

Out of all the potential candidates for the 2022 NFL MVP, none are more deserving than Drew Brees. Brees has been a mainstay in the NFL for over a decade, and he shows no signs of slowing down. He’s a proven winner, and he always puts the team first. Let’s take a look at why Brees is the most deserving candidate for the 2022 NFL MVP.

Age

Drew Brees will turn 41 in January of 2022. The 2021 season will be his 20th in the NFL, all with the New Orleans Saints. In that time, he’s racked up 74,437 passing yards (fourth all time) and 547 passing touchdowns (second all time). He’s been selected to 14 Pro Bowls (second most by a quarterback in NFL history) and was named first-team All Pro five times. He was the 2007 AP Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl XLIV MVP.

Recent Success

In recent years, Brees has helped to lead the Saints to new levels of success. The team has won division titles in three of the last five seasons, and they made it all the way to the NFC Championship game in 2018. In 2019, they captured their second ever Super Bowl title, defeating the Los Angeles Rams in a thrilling game.

Thanks in large part to Brees’ play, the Saints have become one of the most dominant teams in the NFL over the last few years. It’s clear that he still has plenty of good football left in him, and there’s no doubt that he’ll be in contention for another MVP award in 2022.

Experience

In the NFL, experience definitely matters. And when it comes to the most experienced quarterback in the league, that would be Drew Brees. The 42-year-old quarterback has been playing in the NFL for 20 years and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, he’s coming off one of his best seasons ever, leading the New Orleans Saints to a 13-3 record and a spot in the NFC Championship game.

Brees is a surefire Hall of Famer and is already among the greatest quarterbacks of all time. But what sets him apart from other great quarterbacks is his longevity. He’s played at a high level for so long that it’s hard to imagine anyone eclipsing his accomplishments.

There have been some great quarterbacks in recent years, like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. But even they haven’t been able to match Brees’ level of consistency over such a long period of time. That’s why, even at 42 years old, Brees is still the favorite to win the 2022 NFL MVP award.

Aaron Rodgers

Age

At 37 years old, Rodgers is undoubtedly nearing the end of his career. In fact, he’s already the oldest player in the league. However, he’s shown no signs of slowing down any time soon. In 2020, he had one of the best seasons of his career, leading the league in touchdown passes and quarterback rating. He also showed amazing durability, playing all 16 games for the first time since 2008. Given all that, it’s not surprising that Rodgers is still considered one of the favorites to win MVP in 2022.

Recent Success

Since taking over as the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008, Rodgers has been one of the most successful and decorated players at his position. He was named Associated Press Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2014, and AP NFL MVP twice in 2011 and 2014. Rodgers led the Packers to a victory in Super Bowl XLV in 2010 over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was named Super Bowl MVP. He was also named NFC Offensive Player of the Year four times (2011, 2014, 2016, 2018), NFL Passing Yards Leader five times (2011-2013, 2016, 2018) and NFC Touchdowns Leader twice (2011, 2016).

Experience

With 16 NFL seasons under his belt, there’s no doubt that Aaron Rodgers has the experience to be the next NFL MVP. He’s a Super Bowl champion and two-time MVP, and he’s shown time and time again that he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. In 2020, he led the league in touchdown passes (48) and passer rating (121.5), and he also threw for 4,299 yards and only five interceptions. Experience is a big factor in determining who the MVP is, and Rodgers has plenty of it.

Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes has already cemented himself as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. He’s only 25 years old, and he’s already won a Super Bowl and an MVP award. Mahomes is a dual-threat quarterback who can make all the throws. He’s also very accurate, and he has a strong arm. Mahomes is a threat to run the ball, too. He’s very fast for a quarterback, and he’s not afraid to tuck the ball and run.

Age

Mahomes is still young, having only turned 25 in September 2020. He has already accomplished a lot in his short career, but he has the potential to accomplish even more. Given his age and the offensive weapons around him, it is reasonable to believe that he could be the NFL MVP for many years to come.

Recent Success

Since being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, Patrick Mahomes has quickly become one of the most successful quarterbacks in the NFL. In his first season as a starter, he led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and was named NFL MVP. The following year, he guided the team to a Super Bowl victory, becoming the youngest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl.

Mahomes’ success is due in part to his strong arm and his ability to make quick decisions. He has also been very accurate, completing 66 percent of his passes over his career. His play has helped the Chiefs offense become one of the most potent in the NFL. In 2019, they averaged a league-best 27.6 points per game.

Mahomes is still only 25 years old and is under contract with the Chiefs through 2023. If he continues to play at a high level, he could very well be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time when his career is over.

Experience

In his first season as a starter in 2018, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and their first AFC Championship Game appearance since 1993. For his efforts, he was named AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year and AFC Offensive Player of the Year. In 2019, Mahomes helped lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers. He was named Super Bowl MVP after throwing for two touchdowns and running for another in the 31-20 victory.
