The Current Standings

The NBA game is always changing and it can be hard to keep track of who is winning and losing. However, we have the most up-to-date information on the current standings so you can stay informed.

The Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of two conferences that makes up the league, the other being the Western Conference. Like the Western Conference, the Eastern Conference is made up of 15 teams, organized in three divisions.

The current divisional alignment was introduced in 2004, when the now Charlotte Hornets began play as the NBA’s 30th franchise. This realignment was dictated by the league as part of moving the Hornets from Charlotte, North Carolina to New Orleans, Louisiana. As part of this move, which was approved by NBA owners on April 27, 2004, the Hornets were officially assigned to the Southeast Division, while their geographical cousins, the New Orleans Pelicans (formerly the New Orleans Jazz), were placed in the newly created Southwest Division.

The Top Teams in the League

As the NBA season comes to an end, there are a few teams that are clearly at the top of the league. The Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Toronto Raptors are dominating the competition and seem to be on a collision course to meet in the Finals. Let’s take a closer look at each of these teams and see why they are so successful.

The Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks have been on a tear lately, and they are currently the top team in the league. They have a record of 52-9, and they are two games ahead of the second-place Toronto Raptors. The Bucks are led by MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. Other key players for the Bucks include Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe, and Brook Lopez. The Bucks have one of the best offenses in the league, as they are averaging 118.1 points per game (second in the NBA). They also have a very good defense, as they are allowing just 104.4 points per game (first in the NBA). The Bucks have been dominant lately, and they look like they could be the team to beat in the playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference in the Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. The franchise began with the 1947 purchase of a disbanded team, the Detroit Gems of the National Basketball League (NBL). The new team began playing in Minneapolis, calling themselves the Minneapolis Lakers. Initially a member of the NBL, the Lakers won the 1948 NBL championship before joining the rival Basketball Association of America, where they would win five of the next six championships, led by star George Mikan. After struggling financially in the late 1950s following Mikan’s retirement, they relocated to Los Angeles before the 1960–61 season.

Led by Hall of Famers Elgin Baylor and Jerry West, Los Angeles made playoffs eight times in West’s eleven seasons; however, they never advanced further than conference semifinals during that period despite having some talented teams.

Since 1987–88 season Patrick Ewing was selected as first pick overall in 1985 NBA draft and formed “twin towers” together with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar which helped team to make playoffs every single year since then but never managed to make it to NBA Finals. Finally led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant team made it to NBA Finals six times winning three consecutive championships between 2000 – 2002 season.

The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. They play their home games at the Scotiabank Arena, which they share with the National Hockey League’s Maple Leafs. The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, Leonard is an exceptional two-way player who has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA. He is a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, having won the award in 2015 and 2016, and is a five-time NBA All-Star, having been selected to the team in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. In 2014, he was named the NBA Finals MVP after leading the Spurs to victory over the Miami Heat in five games.

Since joining forces with Leonard and shooting guard Danny Green prior to last season’s trade deadline, point guard Kyle Lowry has transformed himself into one of Toronto’s most reliable scoring threats. Lowry is averaging 19.2 points and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from three-point range this season.

The Battle for the Playoffs

The NBA Finals are right around the corner, and the race to the playoffs is heating up. Every team is fighting for a chance to win the championship, and the competition is fierce. Who will come out on top?

The Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference is wide open this season, with no clear-cut favorite. The top four teams in the conference are separated by just 3.5 games, and there are only five games separating the fourth-place team from the ninth-place team. It’s going to be a dogfight to the finish line in the East, and any of these teams could end up winning the conference title.

The Milwaukee Bucks currently sit atop the conference with a record of 44-14. They are followed closely by the Toronto Raptors (42-16), Indiana Pacers (41-17), and Boston Celtics (39-19). The Bucks have been the best team in the East all season long, but they have struggled lately, losing five of their last seven games. The Raptors have been red-hot lately, winning eight of their last ten games. The Pacers have also been playing well of late, winning seven of their last ten games.

The fifth through ninth seeds in the East are currently occupied by the Philadelphia 76ers (37-21), Brooklyn Nets (32-26), Detroit Pistons (32-26), Miami Heat (31-28), and Charlotte Hornets (30-29). The 76ers have struggled since losing star player Jimmy Butler to injury, but they are still hanging around in the playoff race. The Nets have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season, as they were not expected to contend for a playoff spot. The Pistons are also exceeding expectations, as they were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league this season.

The race for the final playoff spot in the East will likely come down to the Heat and Hornets. These two teams are separated by just 1.5 games, and they will face each other four times during the final stretch of the season. It should be an exciting finish to what has been a very competitive Eastern Conference this season.

The Western Conference

In the Western Conference, the Warriors continue to dominate, with a record of 60-14. The Rockets are in second place with a record of 53-21, followed by the Trail Blazers (50-26), the Jazz (48-28), and the Thunder (47-29). All five of these teams have clinched a spot in the playoffs. The Pelicans (43-33) are currently in sixth place, but they are only half a game ahead of the seventh-place Spurs (42-33) and one game ahead of the eighth-place Clippers (41-34). These three teams are all fighting for playoff positioning, and it will be interesting to see how things shake out in the final weeks of the season.

The Most Exciting Games Right Now

The Golden State Warriors are currently leading the Houston Rockets by a score of 93-86. The Warriors are currently on a 11-game winning streak and are looking to extend their lead in the Western Conference. The Rockets are led by James Harden, who is averaging 30.4 points per game.

The Milwaukee Bucks vs. The Los Angeles Lakers

The Milwaukee Bucks are currently leading the Los Angeles Lakers 121 to 119 in the 4th quarter of their game. The Bucks have been leading for most of the game, but the Lakers have been catching up. This is a very close and exciting game!

The Toronto Raptors vs. The Golden State Warriors

The Toronto Raptors are currently leading the way in the NBA with a record of 48-17, followed by the Golden State Warriors who are 47-20. These two teams have been neck and neck all season and it looks like it will come down to the wire as to who takes home the title. The Raptors have had an amazing season and are looking to take home their first championship, while the Warriors are looking to repeat as champions.
