He also ran anchor on the Central State 4×100-meter relay team that took first place at the meet.

James Brown (born July 22, 1936) is a former American football running back who played for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) from 1957 to 1965. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1957. Brown was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

James Brown is an African-American sportscaster and former professional football player. He is currently a studio analyst for CBS Sports’ NFL pre-game show, The NFL Today. Brown was born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Mitchellville, Maryland. He played college football at The University of Oklahoma, where he was a two-time All-American running back. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 1983 NFL Draft. After playing two seasons with the Broncos, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams, where he played for four seasons from 1985 to 1988. Brown retired from playing professional football in 1989 to begin his broadcasting career.
