Will Gelo ever make it to the NBA? Many say he has the skill set, but he’s still got to put in the work.

Gelo’s Stats

His PPG

Gelo’s PPG has increased every year since his rookie season. He averaged 22.7 PPG last season, which was the second-highest average of his career.

His APG

Gelo’s APG has increased steadily throughout his college career, from 1.9 APG as a freshman to 4.7 APG as a junior. This indicates that he has improved his ability to distribute the ball and make his teammates better, which is a key attribute for any NBA point guard.

His FG%

Gelo’s field goal percentage obviously needs work, as he shot just 41.5 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from three during his one season at NCAA level. He has shown flashes of being a good shooter, though, so it’s not out of the question that he develops into a more consistent threat from beyond the arc as he moves to the professional game.

Gelo’s Potential

At 6’7″ Gelo has good size for a guard. He is a creative playmaker with the ball in his hands, showing the ability to make plays for both himself and his teammates. He has a strong understanding of how to play off the ball, moving without it to find open space and make himself available for a pass. Gelo has the potential to be a very good player in the NBA.

His shooting

Gelo’s potential in the NBA is tough to judge. There are many variables that come into play such as his shooting. Gelo is a very good shooter, but there are some areas of his game that need improvement. His shooting is one of the main areas that need improvement. He needs to work on his consistency and become a more consistent shooter.

His playmaking

At 6’5” Gelo has great size for a point guard and couples that with a 6’9.5” wingspan. He uses his size well, both physically bullying smaller defenders and skyhooking over them. On the defensive end, his length allows him to keep smaller guards in front of him and provides some upside as a shot blocker. Gelo also has very good speed and quickness with the ball in his hands. He can beat most college defenders off the dribble, which opens up opportunities for him to either pull up or get all the way to the basket.

His defense

Gelo is an interesting case because he has the potential to be a very good defender in the NBA. His wingspan and size allow him to guard multiple positions, and he has shown the ability to be a good shot blocker. He needs to improve his footwork and fundamentals on defense, but there is definitely potential there.
