History

The club was founded in 1916 by the Polish Army officers. Initially, the club only consisted of soldiers and it wasn’t open to the public. In 1918, Legia became open to the public and began recruiting new players outside of the army.

The 1920s were successful years for Legia. The team won multiple Polish Championships and Cups. In 1925, Legia debuted in the European cup games, but they lost in the quarterfinals.

In 1926, Henryk Reyman became chairman of the club and he helped Legia continue its success both on and off the court. Reyman built a new stadium for the team, which increased interest in Legia from both fans and sponsors. He also worked on getting Legia admitted into the Polish first division Basketball league something that was accomplished in 1928.

With its new stadium and first division status, Legia began attracting some of the best players in Poland. This led to even more success for the team as they won multiple championships in the 1930s.
