Canon-Mac: The Royals have been one of the top teams in the WPIAL for the past few years, and they look like they could be even better in 2022. They have a strong pitching staff led by senior ace Connor Smith, and their lineup is loaded with power hitters
Bethel Park: The Blackhawks have been one of the most consistent teams in the WPIAL over the past decade, and they should be right in the mix again in 2022. They have a balanced team with solid pitching and hitting, and they always seem to find a way to win big games.
North Allegheny: The Tigers have been one of the best teams in Pennsylvania over the past few years, and they should be right back near the top of the standings again in 2022. They have a deep pitching staff led by senior ace Tommy Trevor, and their lineup features several dangerous hitters.
Keep an eye on these three teams during the upcoming season as they all have a chance to make a run at the WPIAL title.

How will WPIAL realign for baseball in 2022?
With High School baseball in Pennsylvania set to return in the spring of 2022, the question on everyone’s mind is how will the WPIAL realign for baseball?
The WPIAL has not released any official information on how they will realign for baseball, but there are a few things we can expect.
First, it is likely that the WPIAL will go back to a 16-team playoff format This was the format used prior to 2020, when the pandemic led to a shortened season and an 8-team playoff.
Second, we can expect some changes to the geographic alignments of the districts. With some schools changing conferences and others changing classifications, it is likely that district lines will be redrawn to accommodate these changes.
Finally, we can expect some change to the scheduling format. With conference realignment and changes in classifications, it is likely that teams will play different opponents than they have in years past. This could lead to some interesting matchups and new rivalries forming.

WPIAL Baseball storylines to watch in 2022
As the 2021 high school baseball season comes to a close, it’s time to start looking ahead to the 2022 season. Here are some of the top storylines we’ll be following next year:
1. Can North Allegheny repeat as PIAA champs?
The Tigers have been one of the most dominant teams in Pennsylvania over the last few years, winning back-to-back PIAA titles. They’ll be looking to make it three in a row in 2022, but they’ll have their work cut out for them with a number of other strong teams in the state.
2. Who will be the new WPIAL champ?
Bethel Park has won four straight WPIAL titles, but they’ll be graduating a number of key players from this year’s team. That opens the door for other teams like Peters Township, Mt. Lebanon, and Upper St. Clair to compete for the title in 2022.
3. Can Central Catholic three-peat?
The Vikings have been the class of Class 6A over the last two years, winning back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA titles. They’ll once again be one of the favorites next year, but with other teams reloading with talent, it won’t be easy for Central Catholic to make it three straight championships.
