Pena spent most of 2018 with Montgomery, but he also made five starts for the Triple-A Durham Bulls

Pena is a fastball pitcher who can reach speeds of up to 98 miles per hour He also throws a curveball and a changeup.

In 2019, Pena pitched for both Durham and Montgomery, and he posted a combined 3.57 ERA in 62 innings pitched He struck out 69 batters and walked just 20. Pena was promoted to the majors for the first time on August 4th, 2019.
