IU Basketball Recruits for the Class of 2022

The Indiana University basketball team is looking to add some new recruits to their roster for the upcoming 2022 season. Here’s a look at some of the top prospects they are targeting.

The Indiana University Basketball Program has been on the rise in recent years and that is reflected in the recruiting classes that the Hoosiers have been able to bring in.

The class of 2022 is no different, as IU currently has two four-star recruits and one five-star recruit committed to play for the Hoosiers next season.

Here is a look at each of the three commits for IU’s class of 2022.

The Class of 2022

As the college Basketball Recruiting season gets underway, here’s a look at the Indiana Hoosiers’ top targets in the class of 2022.

The Hoosiers currently have two commitments in the class, four-star guard Khristian Lander and three-star forward Trey Galloway. Here are some of the other top prospects on IU’s radar.

Peyton Watson: The 6-foot-7 wing from Long Beach California is rated as a five-star prospect and the No. 11 player in the country by 247Sports. Watson is set to take an official visit to Bloomington this month.

Moses Moody: A 6-foot-6 wing from Little Rock, Arkansas, Moody is rated as a five-star prospect and the No. 16 player in the nation by 247Sports. He has taken unofficial visits to Indiana and Purdue and is also set to visit UCLA this month.

Drew Timme: A 6-foot-10 center from Spokane, Washington, Timme is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 33 player in the nation by 247Sports. He has taken unofficial visits to Gonzaga and Washington and is set to visit Indiana this weekend.

The Top Prospects

The Indiana Hoosiers have already compiled an impressive recruiting class for the 2022 season, with four ESPN Top 100 prospects committed to the program. Here’s a look at the top recruits in IU’s class:

1. Jason Infante – Guard, 6’4″, 180 lbs.
Infante is a long and lanky guard who has the ability to score from anywhere on the court. He’s an excellent shooter, with a quick release and deep range, and he’s also very good at getting to the basket and finishing in traffic. He has good Court Vision and is a willing passer, but needs to work on his decision-making with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he has the potential to be very good, with his long arms and quick feet.

2. Luke Goode – Forward, 6’7″, 210 lbs.
Goode is a strong and physical forward who excels in the post. He has Good footwork and a soft touch around the basket, and he’s also an excellent rebounder. He needs to work on his conditioning and lateral quickness but he has all the tools to be a very good defender at the college level.

3. Dylan Powell – Guard, 6’2″, 185 lbs.
Powell is another excellent shooter, with deep range and a quick release. He’s also very good at getting to the basket and finishing in traffic. He needs to work on his decision-making with the ball in his hands, but he has good Court Vision and is a willing passer. Defensively, he has good lateral quickness and should be able to defend both guard positions effectively at the college level.

4. Kobe Webster – Guard, 6’3″, 190 lbs.
Webster is another long and lanky guard who can score from anywhere on the court. He’s an excellent shooter with deep range, but he’s also very good at getting to the basket thanks to his athleticism and length. Webster is also a very good defender thanks to his lateral quickness and length.

The Other Prospects

In addition to the five recruits that have already signed with IU, there are a few other prospects that the Coaching Staff is still keeping an eye on.

One of those is small forward Jaden Ivey from South Bend Indiana. Ivey is ranked as the No. 36 player in the country by 247Sports and has offers from a number of schools, including IU, Purdue, Notre Dame and Michigan State

The other player is shooting guard Trey Kaufman from Seymour, Indiana. Kaufman is ranked as the No. 70 player in the country by 247Sports and has offers from IU, Purdue, Louisville, and Xavier.

The Missing Pieces

The Hoosiers are currently seen as one of the favorites to land his commitment.

Small Forward:
-Luke Framework – A 6’7″ wing from Ohio, Framework is an excellent 3-point shooter with a High Basketball IQ. He would provide valuable scoring and perimeter defense for Indiana, and they are currently seen as one of his favorite schools.

The Future

The Indiana University basketball program has already started to receive commitments for the class of 2022. As of right now, the Hoosiers have two four-star commits in the form of forwards Khristian Lander and Trey Kaufman.

Lander, from Evansville, Indiana, is ranked as the 35th best player in the country by ESPN. Kaufman, from Seymour, Indiana, is ranked 61st.

The Hoosiers also have one three-star commit in guard Tony Perkins. Perkins is from Chicago and is currently ranked as the 130th best player in his class.

It is still early in the recruiting process for the class of 2022, but IU is off to a great start. With two top-60 players already committed, the Hoosiers are poised to land an elite Recruiting Class
