It’s never too early to start looking ahead at the NBA’s top assist leaders for the 2022 season. Here are our early predictions.
Who Will Be the NBA’s Top Assist Leaders in 2022?
In the National Basketball Association the assist is a statistic that measures the number of times a player passes the ball to a teammate in a manner that leads to a score by field goal This statistic is recorded as assists per game assists per 48 minutes, and assists per 100 possessions.
Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving is one of the NBA’s top assist leaders and will continue to be so in 2022. Kyrie is a fantastic player who knows how to set up his teammates for success. He is always looking to create opportunities for others and makes the game easy for those around him. Kyrie is a true floor general and a true leader of men.
Russell Westbrook
There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook is one of the best point guards in the NBA today He has shown time and time again that he has the ability to take over a game and put up huge numbers. Westbrook is currently averaging a triple-double for the season, and there is no reason to think that he will not be able to continue this level of play into next season and beyond.
While there are other point guards who are having great seasons, Westbrook is in a class by himself when it comes to assistance. He is averaging 10.4 assists per game which is nearly two more than the next highest player. Westbrook’s assist numbers have been steadily increasing over the past few seasons, and there is no reason to think that this trend will not continue. If Westbrook can maintain his current level of play, he will almost certainly be one of the top assist leaders in the NBA for many years to come.
LeBron James
LeBron James is currently the NBA’s all-time leader in assists. He is also the active leader in assists per game with an average of 10.2 per game. James is currently in his 18th season and shows no signs of slowing down. It is safe to say that he will continue to be one of the top assist leaders in the NBA for years to come.
Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A six-time NBA All-Star he has been named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice and won three NBA championships with the Warriors. Many players and analysts have called him the greatest shooter in NBA history He is credited with revolutionizing the game of basketball by inspiring teams to regularly employ the Three-Point Shot as part of their winning strategies
Klay Thompson
The 6-foot-7 guard from the Golden State Warriors has been one of the top three-point shooters in the league since he was drafted in 2011. But with Steph Curry and Kevin Durant gone, Thompson will be relied on to create more offence for the Warriors. He averaged a career-high 4.5 assists per game last season and with an improved jump shot he could easily average over six assists per game in 2020-21.
Draymond Green
Draymond Green is widely considered one of the best Defensive Players in the NBA. He’s also an excellent rebounder and an astute passer. Many analysts believe that he has the potential to be one of the top assist leaders in the league in the future.
Kevin Durant
As Basketball Prospectus’ Kevin Pelton noted in his most recent round of projections for the 2021-22 season the Brooklyn Nets superstar is on pace to become the league’s top assist leader next year.
In Durant’s last full season (2019-20), he averaged 5.9 assists per game, which was good for seventh in the NBA. However, Pelton projects that Durant will raise his average to 7.4 assists per game next season, which would put him ahead of current leaders like Russell Westbrook and Lebron James
With the Nets expected to be one of the best teams in the league next season, Durant will have plenty of opportunities to rack up assists, especially playing alongside fellow All-Stars Kyrie Irving and James Harden If he can stay healthy, there’s no reason to think Durant can’t be one of the NBA’s top assist leaders in 2021-22.
Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard is one of the best players in the NBA, and he’s poised to be one of the league’s top assist leaders in 2022. Leonard is a phenomenal passer, and he has the ability to make his teammates better. He’s also an excellent shooter, and he has the ability to score from anywhere on the court. In addition, Leonard is an excellent defender, and he has the ability to shut down opposing players.
Jimmy Butler
There is no doubt that Jimmy Butler is one of the best players in the NBA. He is a leader on and off the court, and he has the ability to take over a game when needed. Jimmy Butler is also an excellent passer, and he has the potential to be one of the top assist leaders in the NBA.
