Men’s Basketball defeated West Florida 73-68 in the UWF Field House Wednesday night, breaking a four-game losing streak to the Argonauts.
The first half started off with UWF (9-8, 3-4 GSC) jumping out to an early lead, but West Florida (7-10, 2-5 GSC) quickly took control of the game and led by as much as nine points.
UWF rallied late in the half and took a slim 33-32 lead into the break.
In the second half, both teams exchanged leads before UWF went on an 8-0 run to take a 54-49 lead with 8:34 left in the game.
West Florida answered with a run of its own and took a 58-57 lead with 5:21 remaining, but UWF would not be denied.
The Argos’ lead was short lived as sophomore guard Jesse Little nailed a three pointer to give UWF the lead for good at 60-58.
West Florida had one last chance to tie the game in the waning seconds, but could not convert on a layup attempt, giving UWF the 73-68 win.

The UWF student section known as “The Rowdy Reptiles,” was in full force on Saturday night. The fans were loud and rowdy throughout the game, and they played a big role in helping the Argos get the win.
After the game, UWF Head Coach Jeff Price said that he was proud of his team’s effort and that the fans played a big part in the victory. “Our guys really fed off of the energy from our fans tonight,” said Price. “They were unbelievable.”
The aftermath
