Liberty Basketball Gets ESPN Treatment

ESPN’s documentary series “30 for 30” will feature Liberty University’s men’s basketball team this fall.

The show, titled “Playing For The Prophet,” will chronicle how the team and school have been shaped by Jerry Falwell Sr. and Jr.

ESPN’s Liberty Basketball Schedule

ESPN has announced their college Basketball Schedule for the upcoming season and Liberty is set to appear on the network a total of 18 times.

The Flames will make their ESPN debut on November 6th when they take on 2017 NCAA tournament participant Syracuse at the Carrier Dome Liberty will then appear on ESPN2 three days later when they face off against Old Dominion.

Liberty’s first Home game on ESPN will take place on November 28th, when the Flames host in-state rival Virginia Tech That contest will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a meeting with 2017 NCAA Tournament participant Iowa State on December 2nd.

Liberty Basketball on ESPN

On Thursday, it was announced that Liberty Basketball will be receiving the ESPN treatment. The Flames will have four games televised on the ESPN family of networks during the 2019-20 season the most in program history.

The first game of the season to be televised will be Liberty’s home game against Rutgers on Nov. 15. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be shown on ESPNU.

This is a huge get for Liberty Basketball and should help the program in its quest to become an elite mid-major program.

Liberty basketball game of the Week

The Liberty basketball game against UMass on Saturday will be the ESPN “Game of the Week.” The game will be televised at noon on ESPNU.

Liberty Basketball TV Schedule

The Liberty men’s Basketball team will have six games televised on ESPN networks this season, the most in program history.

The Flames will make their ESPN debut on Nov. 15 when they take on Mississippi State in the Veterans Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. The game will be televised on ESPNU at 7 p.m.

Liberty’s home game against conference rival Winthrop on Jan. 2 will be televised on ESPN2 at 7 p.m., while the Flames’ road contest at Longwood on Jan. 30 will be aired on ESPNU at 7 p.m.

ESPN will also televise Liberty’s final two regular-season games – a home matchup against High Point on Feb. 27 and a road game at Radford on March 1 – with both contests set for 7 p.m. starts and airing on ESPN2 and ESPNU, respectively.

Liberty Basketball on Radio

ESPN Radio will broadcast all 30 Liberty men’s basketball games this season, as announced by the network on Thursday.

The deal marks the first time that the Liberty men’s Basketball Program will have every one of its games carried live on national radio. In addition to ESPN Radio, the games will also be available on the TuneIn app.

“We are thrilled to partner with ESPN Radio to provide our fans with unprecedented coverage of Liberty Basketball this season,” said Liberty Director of Athletics Ian McCaw in a press release. “ESPN is a powerful brand and this expanded relationship significantly increases the reach of our program.”

The first broadcast will be Liberty’s season-opener against North Carolina A&T on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., which is also scheduled to be televised on ESPNU.

Liberty Basketball Online

Liberty basketball is getting the ESPN treatment. The school announced Wednesday that all of its home games will be streamed live on ESPN3 this season.

The agreement will give Liberty increased exposure and also allow the school to reach a wider audience.

“We are excited to partner with ESPN to showcase our men’s Basketball Program ” Liberty director of athletics Ian McCaw said in a statement. “This relationship provides a great opportunity to significantly increase the visibility of Liberty University while also promoting our student-athletes and coach Ritchie McKay.”

ESPN3 is available to more than 99 million households nationwide through affiliated providers including Comcast Xfinity AT&T U-verse, Verizon FiOS DirecTV, dish and more.

Liberty Basketball NCAA Tournament

Liberty basketball is getting the full ESPN treatment for its first NCAA tournament game in program history.

The Flames, who are the No. 12 seed in the Midwest Region, will face No. 5 Mississippi State on Friday at 6:27 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The game will be called by Dave O’Brien and Doris Burke, with Sean McDonough and Jay Bilas serving as theanalysts. Reporter Molly McGrath will have sideline duties.

Liberty Basketball Conference Tournament

The Liberty Flames will be getting the ESPN treatment as they compete in the conference tournament All three of their games will be broadcast on ESPNU, with the first game tipping off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.

The top-seeded Flames are looking to defend their conference title and make a return trip to the NCAA tournament They will face off against eighth-seeded Presbyterian in the quarterfinals.

Liberty Basketball Postseason

The Liberty basketball team will be getting some ESPN treatment as postseason voting comes to a close. The Flames are currently ranked No. 23 in the nation and are receiving votes for the AP Top 25 Poll.

Liberty Basketball History

ESPN college GameDay will head to Lynchburg, Virginia, for the first time in the Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 college Basketball season The game will feature a top-10 matchup between the No. 8 UConn Huskies and the No. 10 Liberty Flames at Vines Center.

This will be the first ever appearance by ESPN College GameDay in Lynchburg, and just the third time that a women’s college basketball game has been featured on the iconic program.

Liberty is in just its second year as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN), but has a long and storied history dating back to its founding in 1971. The Flames have won 12 conference championships and made 15 appearances in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship including four Sweet Sixteen appearances.
