The Grindhouse: What is it?

The “Grindhouse” is a nickname given to the New Orleans Pelicans home arena, the Smoothie King Center The Pelicans began using the Smoothie King Center as their home arena in 2002. The name “Grindhouse” was given to the arena by former Pelicans player Anthony Mason in reference to the toughness of playing there. The name has since been popularized by fans and the media.

The Grindhouse is known for being one of the loudest arenas in the NBA, due to its small size and passionate fan base. It can be a difficult place for opposing teams to play, which is why many players have spoken about how much they enjoy playing there.

The History of the Grindhouse

The Grindhouse was originally built in 1950 as the home of the Fort Wayne Pistons, an NBA team The Pistons moved to Detroit in 1957, and the Grindhouse became the home of the Fort Wayne Komets, a minor league Hockey Team The Komets played there until 1998, when they moved to a new arena.

In 2006, the Grindhouse was renovated and reopened as a basketball court It is now the home of the Mad Ants Fort Wayne’s NBA G League team. The Grindhouse has a capacity of 7,200 people and is one of the smallest arenas in the NBA G League

The Grindhouse is known for its intimate setting and loud fans. It has been called one of the best places to watch Minor League basketball by Sports Illustrated

The Grindhouse basketball training Facility

The Grindhouse is a world-class Basketball Training facility located in the heart of Los Angeles California. The facility features two full-size NBA regulation basketball courts a state-of-the-art weight room, a full kitchen and lounge area, and a team of experienced and dedicated trainers. The Grindhouse is open to all players of all levels, from beginners to professionals.

The Grindhouse Basketball League

The Grindhouse Basketball league is a new, exciting Basketball League that focuses on giving players a competitive and intense basketball experience. The league is made up of 8 teams, each with 12 players. The teams are divided into two divisions, the East and West. Each team will play each team in their division twice, and then will play four teams in the other division once. This gives each team a total of 24 games in the regular season

The playoffs will be a single-elimination tournament, with the top four teams in each division qualifying. The first round of the playoffs will be held at the end of the regular season with the quarterfinals and semifinals taking place the following week. The Championship game will be played on the last Saturday of the month.

The Grindhouse basketball league is open to all players aged 18 and over. To join, simply fill out an online application and pay the league fee. All games will be played at local High School gyms in the evening hours.

The Future of the Grindhouse

The Charlotte Hornets are set to move into the uptown arena currently known as the Spectrum Center. This will conclude the Ballpark Era of Charlotte sports, in which all three major sports teams (Hornets, Carolina Panthers Charlotte Knights) played within a few blocks of each other. The Hornets first arrived in Charlotte in 1988, playing their home games at the Charlotte Coliseum. In 2005, the team moved to Time Warner Cable Arena (now spectrum center), and now, after 30 years in Uptown, the team is moving back downtown.

This relocation has many Charlotteans wondering what will become of the Hornets’ old home, now known as Bojangles’ Coliseum. There is no doubt that this move will have a profound impact on Uptown Charlotte, and it will be interesting to see what direction the city takes in regards to this historic arena.
