USSSA Baseball in Louisiana- An Overview
Since 2001, USSSA baseball in Louisiana has been organizing and sanctioning youth baseball tournaments for teams across the state. In recent years we have seen a significant increase in the number of teams participating in our tournaments, and we now offer events for players of all ages and abilities.
Our mission is to provide a positive and enjoyable tournament experience for all involved, while promoting the development of youth baseball players in Louisiana. We pride ourselves on providing a well-organized tournament with quality fields and experienced umpires.
We offer a variety of tournaments throughout the year, including our flagship event, the Louisiana state championship Tournament, which is held each summer. This tournament is open to any team registered with USSSA baseball in Louisiana, and it features some of the best competition in the state.

USSSA Baseball in Louisiana- The Teams
In Louisiana, Usssa baseball is comprised of four different levels: Major, AAA, AA, and A. Each level has its own set of rules and regulations that teams must follow in order to compete.
The Major level is the highest level of play in Louisiana and is reserved for the most competitive teams. Major teams are typically made up of players who have previous experience playing at a high level, such as collegiate or professional baseball
AAA teams are the next level down from Major and are typically made up of players who have some experience playing at a high level, but may not be quite as skilled as those on a Major team. AA teams are the third level of play in Louisiana and are typically made up of players who have less experience playing at a high level.
A teams are the fourth and final level of play in Louisiana and are typically made up of players who are just starting out in their baseball careers.

USSSA Baseball in Louisiana- The History
In 1984, the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) was established in Osceola, Florida. It is a multi-sport governing body which sanctions several tournaments and championships annually, including baseball.
The first USSSA Baseball World Series was held in 1985 in Memphis, Tennessee with 8 teams. The next year, the World Series was held in Baton Rouge Louisiana with 12 teams. It has been held in Louisiana every year since then, except for 1987 (San Antonio) and 1988 (Orlando).
Initially, the World Series was a single elimination tournament. In 1989, it expanded to a double elimination format. In 1992, it expanded again to its current format of four pools of four teams each playing round robin games followed by a single elimination bracket.
The 2018 USSSA Baseball World Series will be held in Multiple Locations across Southeast Louisiana from July 31-August 5.

While most of the teams are based in the Greater New Orleans area, there are also teams in Baton Rouge Lafayette, Shreveport, and Lake Charles.
