Haley was drafted by Boston Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft out of Fresno State University He was traded to the Twins in 2013. Haley spent the 2014 season with the High-A Fort Myers Miracle, going 8–7 with a 3.68 ERA in 26 games (24 starts). In 2015, he pitched for both the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts and Triple-A Rochester Red Wings compiling a combined 11–10 record and 4.31 ERA in 28 games (27 starts) between both clubs.
