Lakewood Lancers baseball a brief history
The Lakewood Lancers are a high school baseball team located in Lakewood, California. The team was founded in 1966 and has been one of the most successful High School teams in the state ever since. The Lancers have won nine Cif Southern Section championships, more than any other high school in Los Angeles County.
The team has produced numerous Major League Baseball players, including All-Stars Mike Piazza and Bret Saberhagen In recent years the Lancers have continued to be one of the top teams in the state, winning the CIF championship in 2016 and 2018.
With a rich history of success on the field, the Lakewood Lancers are poised for another great season in 2019. Go Lancers!

Why the Lancers are so successful
Lakewood High School’s Baseball Team is on a roll. The Lancers have won 14 games in a row, and they’re currently ranked No. 1 in the state. So, what’s behind the team’s success?
Head coach Matt White credits the team’s hard work and dedication. “Our guys have put in a lot of time and effort to get better,” he said. “They’re always working to get better.”
Pitcher Jack Baker agreed. “We all push each other to be better,” he said. “We know that if we want to win, we have to keep getting better.”
The team’s success is also due to its strong senior class. White said that the seniors have provided great leadership for the younger players. “They’ve really taken ownership of this team,” he said.
The Lancers will put their Winning Streak on the line tomorrow when they take on crosstown rival Mayfield high school
The key to the Lancers success: teamwork

“We’ve really been focusing on working together as a team and it’s been paying off,” said Lancers captain Ryan Miller. “We’re Playing some great baseball right now and we’re loving it.”
The Lancers have jumped out to a hot start this season, winning eight of their first ten games. They’re currently tied for first place in their division and they’re looking like a team that could make a run at the playoffs.
“It’s been a lot of fun,” Miller said. “We have a great group of guys on this team and we’re just having a blast out there on the field.”
If the Lancers can keep up their teamwork, there’s no telling how far they’ll go this season. But one thing’s for sure: they’re going to be tough to beat.
