The History of Pennsbury Baseball

Pennsbury High School’s baseball team has a long and storied history. The team was founded in 1890 and has been one of the most successful high school baseball teams in Pennsylvania ever since. The team has won 9 State Championships and has produced 33 Major League Baseball players, including Hall of Famer Robin Roberts Pennsbury High School is also the alma mater of former Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.

The Pennsbury baseball program is committed to developing the complete student-athlete. We are dedicated to providing our players with the opportunity to grow as people, students and athletes. Our goal is to instill in our players the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, responsibility, and respect for others.

We are proud of our tradition of success on the field, in the classroom and in the community. Our program has won numerous conference championships and state titles, and our players have gone on to have successful careers at the collegiate and professional levels. But more importantly, we are proud of the young men who have come through our program and become leaders in their families, communities and professions.

The Coaching Staff

Pennsbury Baseball is led by a highly experienced and successful Coaching Staff The Head Coach Mark Gieseman, has been with Pennsbury since the program’s inception in 2002. He has an overall record of 304-110 and his teams have made the PIAA tournament nine times, winning the state championship in 2014. The assistant coaches are also experienced and have helped the team to be one of the best in the state year after year. With this kind of coaching expertise, it’s no wonder Pennsbury Baseball is a cut above the rest!

The Players

The Pennsbury Baseball Team is made up of some of the most talented young athletes in the area. The team is coached by Mr. Joe Girardi who has been with the team for two years. Mr. Girardi was a professional baseball player for ten years, and has been coaching youth baseball for the past fifteen years.

The team has a strong pitching staff, led by senior ace pitcher Matt Scherzer. Scherzer has been with the team for four years, and has been the starting pitcher for the past three years. He has a career earned run average (ERA) of 1.93, and has struck out more than 300 batters in his career.

The offense is led by senior first baseman Mike Trout Trout has been with the team for four years, and is a three-time All-Star. He is hitting .341 this season, with eight home runs and 32 RBIs.

The team’s defense is anchored by junior shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Tulowitzki has been with the team for three years, and is a two-time Gold Glove winner. He has a .987 Fielding percentage this season, and has only made eight errors in his career.

The Fans

The Pennsbury baseball team has some of the most dedicated and spirited fans in all of Pennsylvania. The team has a long and proud tradition of excellence on the field, and the fans have always been there to support them.

The Facilities

The baseball field is regulation size and well-maintained, with a grass infield and a dirt Warning Track The outfield fence is eight feet tall, and the bullpen is located just beyond the left field fence.

There are two covered batting cages, one for pitchers and one for hitters, which allows the team to practice even when the weather isn’t ideal. The locker room is spacious and clean, with plenty of space for the players to get dressed and store their equipment. And finally, the weight room is state-of-the-art, allowing the players to stay in peak physical condition.

The team is coached by Mike Lipinski, who has been with the program for over 20 years. Coach Lipinski’s wealth of knowledge and experience has helped to make Pennsbury one of the premier high school baseball programs in Pennsylvania.

The team is led by a group of talented and hardworking seniors who are looking to continue the Pennsbury tradition of success. The seniors are committed to working hard on and off the field and they are determined to leave their mark on the program.
