Since the late 1990s, the St. Henry Redskins and the New Bremen Cardinals have been two of the most successful small-school baseball programs in the Midwest. In that time, the schools have combined to win 11 State Championships and five National Championships
The rivalry between the two schools dates back to the early days of their programs, when they were both members of the Midwest Athletic Conference The conference was dissolved in 2000, but the rivalry has continued through non-conference matchups and postseason meetings.
Over the years, the games between these two teams have been some of the most competitive and hotly contested in small-school baseball They have often featured two of the best teams in the state, and occasionally one of them has been ranked among the best teams in the country.
The intensity of this rivalry was on display in 2017, when St. Henry won a thriller 1-0 over New Bremen in 12 innings to capture their first ever state championship

-Chris Burke: Chris Burke played for St Henry from 1995-1998. He was a two-time All-State player and was named Kentucky’s Mr. Baseball in 1998. He went on to play for the University of Kentucky and was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2001. Burke played for the Astros from 2004-2010 and was a key member of their 2005 World Series team.
-Sean Coyle: Sean Coyle played for St Henry from 2007-2010. He was named All-State three times and was also named Kentucky’s Mr. Baseball in 2010. Coyle went on to play for Vanderbilt University and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2010. He made his Major League debut with the Red Sox in 2014.
-AJ Reed: AJ Reed played for St Henry from 2009-2012. He was named All-State three times and holds the career home run record at St Henry (42). Reed went on to play for Kentucky University and was drafted by the Houston Astros in 2014. He made his Major League debut with Astros in 2016.
